Okay new job came up today. Give me a hand on bidding this one and lets see where I stand, maybe I AM too cheap and I could charge more! Give me your opinions....


This is a new company that just called me today and he said they have ALOT of work and could "keep us busy". They are a asphalt & cememt paving comapny that is big in the Metro Area. He wants to see how we do on this first job and go from there. Keep in mind this would be another large account for us.....so in a way this is not a "1 time cleaning".

Scope of Work:
Clean 70' by 40' area of newly paved asphalt. Remove sand, dirt and debris left from cement truck and landscapers. Concentrate on removing tire tracks from the freshly painted handi cap logos as well as all white parking space lines in the area. We are providing water and dont forget chems, but I dont think they will be needed since its new pavement.

Simple, rent a water truck that has four too six spray nozzles on the truck.

If the jobs small use a fire hose.

The detailing of line and hadi cap can be cleaned after if these methods do not work. This will reduce time and be the most cost effective for the majority.

Truck and fire hose rental per day about 300.00 meter check with city. If it’s a new construction contractor usually has meter.

This area id so small you will be able to use fire hose and clean in about 1 hour. Rental on 200 feet of hose is 65.00 dollars a day in PHX. Connection and meter a 200.00 deposit and paid at the end of meter. Water on this job will be the minimum charge of 30.00 dollars.


This will take you longer to drive than to complete.

If you pressure wash only it may take all day depending upon dirt and sand. Use a broom sweeper first. I would do that I would hose it with three inch line.
 
Ron - we did this job in about 25 minutes and it turned out great - we washed all the sand into the drainage dip and I sucked all the crap up with our 16 gallon shop vac - it went really smooth and the asphalt guys were really happy with the outcome...I will post the pictures of it!

That doesnt look like new asphalt? if the asphalt is new consrtuction Alan was correct PW is harder because you cannot use pressure because the seal is not very strong being new.


So the bottom line is it did take longer to drive than to do the job.
 
Ron - your right, it does not look like new asphalt, but it was. We were just there to clean off the sand and dirt leftover from the trucks being in there. You can see how dirty those white lines are from the trucks and skids going over them. We just basically rinsed off the asphalt with cold water and super low pressure. And yes it took about 45 mintues to get to the job and 25 minutes to do it,luckilly I paired it with another job just a few blocks away and it was a 2500 sq ft house with driveway and deck, so it was a profitable day and we made out well.
