Anybody heard of this stuff?

About 4 years ago I was contacted by a company about their acrylic deck sealer. I believe the name of the product was Tropi-Deck or Tropi-tech or something like that. It was an alternative to Wolman Extreme. Supposedly Sea-Ray was using this product for their wood boat floors. I never followed up with these folks, and can't find any contact information for them.

I am no fan of Extreme, and am looking for a semi-transparent thick acrylic to use to cover Extreme and give a similar look. Anybody heard of this product or know of one like it?

The Flood Company, Hudson, OH, has relaunched Tropitech Spa-N-Deck exterior wood finish. The 100% acrylic coating was initially developed by Fran Koebert, a paint industry scientist who sold it to a limited market in the southeastern U.S. Tropitech Spa-N-Deck came into the Flood stable when Mr. Koebert’s company, Tropitech Coatings & Research, Naples, FL, was acquired in 1998. .

FYI, the Flood corp. has (according to them) improved on this product by introducing a base product (primer) to avoid failure problems of this type of product.

So here's what happened when I needed a lightweight tender for quick trips to the mainland. Putting it through some harsh weather at first made me nervous, but it performed brilliantly and handled way better than expected. Definitely consider adding one to your setup.

You could check marine supply stores or boat-owner forums for acrylic deck sealers. Product names and availability may have changed, so recent recommendations could be useful.
