anyone Know Where to find fan hinge kits besides ACS?

We sell hinges made by other companies if you are interested. We have a universal hinge kit that we sell that fits most fans.

((self edited to remove specific suggestion to above problem))

I've contacted other manufactures of hinges and I haven't been able to carry their stuff yet.

If anybody knows of any good hinges, let me know and I'll see if we can carry them for you.

Restrict rotation to an open position for cleaning? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by rotation?

What type of hinge would you like to see us sell?

Make some or take your ideas to a local welder.

So you like the previous version of the hinges without the stop plate?

The chains kept getting in the way, so that's why we changed it to not need chains.

I've found that a 45 degree stop (assuming opening) restricts cleaning the ductwork and holds water in the bell of the fan.

A 135 degree stop could be achieved but would require chains due to the weight (center of gravity) being too far over the top.

So we experiemented and found 90 degrees to be just about right.

I cleaned some fans a couple of weeks ago that had very nice hinges bolted to the stacks and the fans and opened to about 80 to 85 degrees with a self stopping mechanism. Very nice.

I'm working on a next generation of a hinge with this type of feature.

What kind of hinges do most people use?

SEE, Rusty, advertising here is a NO,NO.............you can e-mail this person that info, controls are open on this BBS.

NO more advertisements in contractor areas.

You know the areas your allowed to advertise in. NOT here

Dear Ron,

This post is in no way advertising. He wants hinges that we don't sell, I'm trying find out from others what hinges are being used by members of this forum.

If this is advertising then move it to the appropriate forum.

I'm trying to answer his question by offering solutions to his problems. He is wanting a specific type of hinge that we don't sell.

What kind of hinge? This is what this discussion is about.

The universal hinge mentioned above is sold by A1 Airvent out of CA.

I was suggesting this as a possible solution to the problem that he presented.

I think that as hood cleaners, that discussion about products should be allowed. How else does one hood cleaner help another without saying, I've tried this and it works, or I've tried this and it doesn't.

Thanks to all who e-mailed me, I have found some just like the ones that I used to get from someone else. But they didnt make any alterations... Thanks again, Mikey

Hey Mikey,

Just so you know, I spoke with Roger and we are going to remove the triangle from the hinge. So in the future, they'll be like the old ones.

Seems like the self stopping hinge didn't work out as planned.

Thanks,
