Simple Green works good. Spray on and let set for approx. 20 minutes - keep a mist on it - do not let it dry.

I use cold water and a water broom. Surface cleaner can be used but sometimes can leave swirl marks.

Use about a 25deg Tip.

State in your contract that "Company will clean asphalt as good as possible without damaging the asphalt".

We just did a small (3500 sq ft) lot with new asphalt. (cured for 7-10 days)
Description:
Tennant buildout space in a strip mall. Concrete sidewalk in front of store and rear asphalt parking lot. All new commercial construction.
Job:
Post construction cleanup prior to GC turning over the building to the owner.
Mostly concrete dust, dirt, concrete splatter around the ballards(sp), etc.. A little red mud on the painted block walls from pre-parking lot days.
Tools:
Cold water, no chems, and a reasonably fast moving surface cleaner. We used a turbo nozzle cautiously to get up most of the concrete splatter.
Results:
The job turned out well above the customers expectations and we got the contract for the whole shopping center next door that is currently under construction.
Understanding that this lot was new and thus no chemicals were really needed, we would likely change setups for an old lot.

Why would you want an oil eating organism for asphalt.......isnt asphalt made of oil??????

Edit: just read your dwell time statement, yea I guess that would be critical.........and rinse rinse rinse! Ask the manufacturer their recommendations for asphalt before trying it.
