Broward County In the Neighborhood

Hi guys just signed up recently after lurking on a few other websites/forums before finally finding this one.

I'm am a co-owner of In The Neighborhood, LLC. est. 2007 and it's just now that I have really put my foot down and am giving 110% in the business and it's future.

for the past 9 months me and my partner where half-a$$ing it in many ways. Not marketing ourselves to our fullest capabilities, not keeping any records of jobs, customers, quotes, etc. just being lazy overall in the game.

I was real up and down about my commitment level and enthusiasm about the business. But no more. I am fully focused to making this my first real business, successful.

I mean it's pressure cleaning in South Fl. for pete's sake!! I drive around everyday and realize that this is the PRESSURE CLEANING CAPITAL!! There is work needed everywhere. I just need to make sure I market my butt off. and of course do quality work.

This is one of the steps in my gameplan to make it far in this industry. Be involved in the professional circles and make myself and the company well known and to be loved, to be loved! oh what feeling!

I have been reading about RT for the longest and never really looked into what it entailed but I must say I would LOVE to be at the PHX joint but my partner is anti-education and REFUSES to allow me to use company $ to pay for the trip.

Sound like maybe he isn't a good partner. Do like others have done get rid of the dead weight of a partner and do it yourself and get the benefits of your hard labor for yourself $$$$$

Either way good luck to you and welcome. I'm going to PHX and others from the east coast.

Good luck

Jeff

Drop yor partner like an anchor. An attitude like that is not going to help you succeed. I am also trying to go to the phx RT on the companies dime!

Welcome to PWI... Like Richard and Jeff said. Drop the partner. It's amazing how high a helium balloon will fly when you take the weight off of it. Good luck! :)

Maybe....

Others seem quick to advise dropping a partner, and I agree if they hold you back it's a good move. However, I have seen partnerships like these compliment each other. If you tend to be spendy without kinda watching it, then the partner may be just what you need to keep things in check. Just my 2 cents as food for thought. Only you really know the value to your business that your partner brings.

Anti-education? You are in for a long ride. You can't use your half of partnership funds for what you want? Florida is full of opportunities and competition I hear. Unless you know everything there is to know about how to market this business, sell the service, and how to do the work, you need all the education you can get. I'm sure the guys that have been at this a long time, not me by the way, will tell you they are still learning. If not they are treading water and are gonna get beat up by their competition.

If you do know how to do all the above please start answering everyone's posts. I can use the help.

Watching your expenses on a start up goes without saying. But a blanket anti-education attitude won't work. Educate yourself on this business and start making some money from it and see if your partner wants his share? In my opinion a RT nearby you would make sense unless you guys have a fat start up bank account. You may want to read and search for a while here.

I have a dead weight partner as well. Most of the time I want to drop him and go at it alone. He is a good strong back that is dependable when the job needs done. As far as marketing and education go I am it. I missed a couple RT's but am planning on attending the next one fairly close to my area. Early next year if the schedule I saw was correct. The $$$$ you may spend on the PHX RT may be made up by the wealth of knowledge you recieve there but at the same time if you don't have the deep pockets yet you may have to wait until one comes your way.

"As far as marketing and education go I am it."
that's pretty much how it is w/ me.

the thing about it w/ my partner is that he is the initial owner.

But i feel like i am the more focused and stronger mind for business.

As far as Florida and Opportunity and Competition that's very true. That's one of the things that excites me. Everyday I see a pressure cleaner on the road and as I look around I see everything that needs to be cleaned. I'm ready to get my fair share. I would like to specialize in a few communities around me that I love. Little by little.

But there are a dozen or so monsters in the tri-county area.

This one business is in every neighborhood I go to and they are just blowin through these neighborhoods by throwing a roll on their lawns. Do any of you guys do this. I been thinking about it but I don't know. I see a lot of them rotting away in the lawn. All wet and destroyed. Plus it's like littering kinda.

But I guess we annoy a lot of people w/ our flyers/doorhangers anyway.
So with them covering as many communities in a day as we can in a week we're getting our butts kicked.

Throwing flyers on the lawn shows that a person is careless. Take them up to the door. Better yet, KNOCK ON THE DOOR!

If your business is really new and you don't have lots of customers, just leave your partner and start your own show. You might be stepping back, but who cares, you will be better off.

Anti-educations means anti-success in life if you ask me!

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it. :D :D
