building pressure washer

Its winter time and I am bored with the computer work and need something to do.. I have been looking to add a 5 gpm setup to my trailer..

My question is this.. Can I buy a engine ( 20hp honda $1100 ) and a pump separate and build my own?

I already have a hose reel with 300' of hose and the tank and all that.. and it seems like I can put together my own setup for a bit cheaper than purchasing one.. And I will already know the ins and outs of the setup..
Any advice would be appreciated!

Yes you can. We build all our own as well. I just purchased a Vangaurd 18 hp ($799), A general TS2021 5.5 gpm ($459) and a gerarbox ($259). For a little over $1500 bucks you got a nice unit.
