Cedar Fence Pics..With Questions

This is a fence that I'm using as a test. Here are a few pics. I used F-18 through my x-jet, let dwell for about 15 min and washed.

pic 1 what I started with
pic 2 wet down with F-18
pic 3 and 4 washed but wet
pic 5 and 6 dry

Does it look like a normal cleaning to you? Will I get it brighter when I hit it with some F-8?

Any suggestions for me before I go ahead and do the rest of it?

Actually looks pretty good to me. And since you used a caustic (f-18) you do want to brighten the wood to neutralize it. It looks like there is still some gray wood on some of those knots, but I'm not super familiar with cedar so I cant be certain.

Gerald your pics look pretty good however there is still mold on the bottom of some of the wood.It doesnt stand out to bad now but when you brighten the wood it will tell on you big time that mold will jump out like a sore thumb.If i were you i would add some sh in next time with the wood cleaner.Just my thoughts its a great start on the project.Good luck

Hal, this is a test so I do realize I didn't wash all the way to the bottom.

2 questions though. I've read lots of threads regarding SH on wood, so thats why I never added any. How much should I add?
Also, should I have to wait for the wood to dry before throwing F-8 on, or can I just spray it on after I rinse the F-18 off?

Not familiar with those specific brands, but you can usually brighten/neutralize while still wet.

Ok i was just trying to help sorry if you took offense it just looked like you didnt get the mold off and if you would have brightened it would have been bad.Have they got a univar where you are Gerald?When i have wood that has mold on it i use sh so do some dont.I usually use 12 % 50/50 and mix it with my caustic cleaner works really good.The stronger the caustic the darker the wood will turn.That ox acid will really brighten the wood.Gerald did you see the wand we talk about for your trucksabout?

No offense taken Hal. I appreciate your input! I have seen the wand, but don't remember which thread I saw it on haha. I've read many.

I'll take ya up on your mix and try another section on that fence in a few days. Thanks.
