I was just wondering how are some of the ways ya'll deal with
the waste wash water on the roof after cleaning the fans??
thanks,
Rick

Vacum it up with a wet vac, if ya have to.
Some of these places have drains that lead on to the parking lot-
Not good if the parking lot is newly paved.
If so, Plug the roof drain and vacum it up off the roof. Drop a sump pump into the vac tank and pump it down to the proper drain through a garden hose. Make shure sump pump doesnt have any aluminum inerds or it will get eatin up by your chemicals.
If your going to plug the roof drain and do this. First thing I would do is tell the management/owner whoever, That you are not responsible for any leaks in the roof. Especially if its one of those ugly looking neglected roofs.
If you dont have a sump pump then poor it into 5 gallon buckets lower with a rope and dump into the Mop sink drain instead of pumping it directly.
If that wont work for you, Flush it into the roof drain and catch it with buckets, then dispose of properly.
On most of these Wet vacs they have a screw out drain plug that you could plum a pump to or just gravity feed it to the proper drain.

We capture the water and dump it down the duct when possible, if the duct is not an option then we pump it down.

Rick,
Just leave it there. In 15 years I have never removed any water from a roof.I have cleaned excess grease but never removed water. They get this new thing called RAIN all the time.

Just go clean hoods and don't vworry so much!

The only timre ya really need to worry about it is if you have a aluminum coated roof. Chemicals will turn it black and eventually start breaking it down if not rinsed properly.

If you have -Gobs of Goo- on the roof, make shure ya scrape em up then disipate any left over residue with a final rinse.
Makes for a better job and the HVAC guys and whoever else needs to get roof access wont have anything to complain about.

Mtngoat. PS. Hey setno64 who and where are ya?
