Deck stain overspray on vinyl siding

I have run into this on several occasions. What does anyone recommend using to get oil based satin from deck overspray off from vinyl siding?

If it is from you staining a deck, Purple Power works well. If it is dried it is a little harder but for something that is local, Goofoff works.

Pat I personally never used the Goof Off but a customer of mine used it and said it was too strong it left a stain. Im speaking for myselfwhen I say a little gasoline on a cotton rag works the best and leaves no trace on the siding.

Purple Power or anything butyl based will work with moderate results.

If its a large area of Ready Seal overspray I use Goof Off in a pump sprayer and follow immediately with a wet towel and then hose down the siding. gets it all off pretty quickly and doesn't effect the siding.

I only used the purple power on fresh over spray. I have used the Goof Off several times on some old nasty Behr that had been there for years. I usually just tell the customer what to do because it does take some scrubbing. What probably happened was that the vinyl is not smooth and it just smeared into the little groves in the vinyl. You have to work at it but it does work. I also used the nasty stuff in the metal can not the tree hugging stuff as it evaporates quickly any how. It will also remove the oxidation and that may be what he saw.

I user Graffitti remover from HD. It comes in a spray can. It worked great.

Zap Gutter cleaner which can be purchase from Northern Tool and OOPS which you can get from WalMart both work great.

spray 9 they sell it at most vinyl supply stores thats what they reckermend.

Just had my first major problem with using Goof Off. When it dried it left thick white haze that I can't seem to remove. Always test Goof Off in an inconspicuous area before using it!

Which one did you use? There are 2 kinds and the one in the metal can evaporates quickly.

Are you guys talking about dried oil stain? Hindsight is 20/20 of course but always best to wipe while still wet. If you are spraying just always be keeping an eye out for any overspray and it will wipe right off with some mineral spirits. We always keep a mineral spirit rag handy and no matter what type of siding, my backbrush guy just wipes up any drips as we go around the house. Even if its been 30 minutes or so oil stain will usually still wipe off with mineral spirits, especially on vinyl.

I used the stuff in the metal can. I think they only have one product now, goof off 2 is now the only goof off. but maybe i'm wrong.
