I am wondering if the contractor bid discount is against the law via Trade Secret protection. The other is just for open for sugestions.
Thanks. Ryan

Not sure about the legality, but it's a good way to put yourself out of business. Let us know next year how the program works out for you. I got dibs on your equipment when you put it up for sale.

We had a guy running around beating everyone's price.. He had a datsun station wagon and a little walmart cold water pressure washer.. I saw him the other day at a burger joint cleaning thier sidewaks for $ 25.00 . Still driving the same datsun station wagon and still using the lawnmower looking pressure washer..He asked me How I got all that nice equipment.. I said I Charge more than $25.00 dollars to clean. My Cheapest concrete cleaning job is $175.00 and that is for a Burger King Sidewalk and Dumpster pad.
What is funn7y about beating everyone's price is you may get alot of work but think about it What if his machine keeps breaking down what if his car breaks down.. I spend almost $200 dollars a month on whitco parts, hoses, plastic, chemical, and such.. The guy with the $ 25.00 price might take everyone of my accounts one time but hey who is really making money..
I dont feel that a discount is worth anything.. It's just a way to move in to an account but if you got to do it for a cheap price what's the use.. I tell my customer's the truth .
My equipment is expensive, my chemicals are expensive .. This is why I charge More Money. If you want to find a cheaper guy out there you can probably find one but I Guarantee I have the right equipment to do a way better job than most concrete cleaners out there.
I give details
I use a surface cleaner for even cleaning
I use Hot water
I use the best chemicals
When they use mister cold water walmart machine guy and see his equipment they usually call me and pay my price I give them a good Job and the rest is money in my pocket..

ProWash, Car dealerships use this same kind of program. But they have a lot larger profit in their product. Making an offer like that will systematicly put you out of business. Those dollars you give away actually become advertizing and this is a very expensive way to market your product. If you are giving away money on a "beat their price" you better be up selling other services to make that money back. And if you cant beat the price walk away. No sense doing work for free. Last time I checked Im it this business to make a profit.

Clarification

I have good equipment, and skills. Just asking for input since I am new to this. I guess that in the midwest we don't have talk trash to get our point across. Our work and ethic shows it. And at 25 I am only doing things most wish they could at 35. I apreciate the input, and will abolish the 10% off labor on all parts I am a key player in. The other parts I am striving to control will continue to recieve the deal. Hard work and buying with cash pays off.If you don't have any overhead you don't have any way to lose it.

Here is a list of my equipment:

2 16" surface cleaners
2 4000 psi washers
1 trailer rig
1 truck rig
2 3600 psi spare washers
2000 z71 with topper tows trailer
2002 f350 truck mount w/ plow
1 bobcat for snow removal
1 4 wheeler w plow
trailers
etc
etc
etc

Not including Recording Studio.

Put your mind to it.

You may be well ahead of other 25 your old guys but your greenness in business is showing through. If you really have all that equipment, why would you want to match the price of every lowballer that comes along? More equipment means more maintenance and greater overhead. If you have all that equipment, I assume you also carry insurance. If you match price with a guy that already has a full time job, free weekends and is just looking for play money with a Walmart washer in the back of his car, I'm telling you, you will be bankrupt or lose interest in making ZERO money very quickly.

Sell on quality, sell yourself and do the best possible job for the customer. What you are doing is spending money to make the same money you can make getting a full time job. Keep reading, midwest, south, northeast or california.. you have much to learn.
