Dont worry so much about the national companies guys...*NEW ACCOUNT*

I just locked in an account with a multi-national who was using a national company "Fl*&^&^wash".
Guess who's taking over..... me and at a higher price, by contract too. The facts are you don't have to charge less, or have 20 guys working for you, one needs to promote themselves, and the work will come. Good work and communication is key, and stopping by a few times to close an account is always good, it shows you are around for them. I had been worried about the national pressure washers but you know what, they rarely show up on time or at all, and do a crappy job. All you have to do is be persistent and determined, oh and having a newer lettered vehicle and a hot water machine helps. Do not expect to keep a good account using a home depot cold water machine, it just looks unprofessional!LOL!

I use to hate on the big guys too, But the truth is GOOD help is getting harder and harder to find!!!!!!!!! Some guys just want a pay check.. They are the ones that hurt us all in the end. I hope to make my company grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Donny says, I have found it better to worry about the things you can control and not so much about the things you can't. That doesn't mean that we should be ignorant of their existance however, so proper preparation is key.

I love when big companies cut my price.. They go in and do a poor job.. I just got a call 2 days ago from a restauraunt in The Quarter , (older upscale mini mall on lakeland drive) The restaurant manager said that the building owner told them that the roof was nasty and the exhaust fan was oozing out grease everywhere on the new rubber roof.. So they called me and said that the hood was just cleaned 3 weeks ago and wondered how much I would charge to clean the exhaust fan and duct work because the company they were using only cleaned the hood and filters.. The manager said that when he contacted the other company that had just cleaned his hood, he was told his 2 story roof was to high for his ladder and he saw no need to clean the fan on the roof because he didnt think that grease would make it UP THAT FAR... LOL LOL LOL Now thats funny..So now I got to go show them what a real hood cleaning looks like ..

I had a Church call me last week, because they hired a Large well known "Handy Man" company to clean their roof. They only charged them 150 for about a $1400 Job, and got about 3-4 hours into it (only cleaning the lower half of one side with a PW), took the check and told them they couldnt finish the job for the $150. Then told them that the job was too much for them, and didnt want to rebid. I fell bad for people who come across contractors like this. Especially ones who have a pretty good rep for doing handyman work, not PW work.

There is a handyman company here in the Atlanta area that I always see advertising in the local mailers. Pressure washing used to be one of the services they listed but for the last few months that service is not in their ads. I would be curious to find out why they removed it.
