Hey guys my father in law had some brick work done in his courtyard and afterwords he had someone help him with cleaning and sealing of the bricks. The issue now is that i think they didnt let the bricks dry completly and they have like a white color to them and it looks like garbage!! So today i went there and sprayed straight acid on them and it still didnt take it off....Does anyone know of anything else i can use to get the bricks red again and try to re seal them??

Are they interlocking? Lots of work but can they be flipped over?

I am not to sure off the top of my head what kind of sealer it was but I will find out today for you. What your talking about sounds exactly like what I need, so I will let you know later today what kind it was. Thank you

It's important to try to find out what type of sealer was used. Some are water based and some are solvent based. If you can get the name, most sealant companies have MSDS and product data sheets on their web page that will tell you what the base is.

Your probably looking at excess sealer that dried on the surface. Some sealers must be stripped methyl chloride (can kill you) and probably isn't even worth it. Some however are taken off very easy. We are doing a job today where someone left excess sealer on a marble floor. It comes off easily with a rag and alcohol.

If the brick was wet, it may have not taken the seal. In this case you may be looking at Effloresence. This is caused by water traveling up through the brick and drying on the surface, leaving salt and mineral deposits after it dries. This looks like a white haze.
