I am Look at expanding my exhaust cleaning to another area and going to look for a partner not so sure if it will work out but lots of potentual. I would like to get a guy setup about a 175 miles from me and go for it, I would like to set him up on a % say around 35-45 % with little or no personal Financial obligation to say out of his pocket.
other than he controls his own desteny. I want a self starter and someone with some ethics. I found a untapped market here and would like to take advantage of it and allow someone to share my rewards and grow. Can you give me some input. Thanks Mikey
WorldWash@msn.com PS startup phase has been good to me and I have gennerated several thousands in gross profit with little invested and seems to be comming on stronger every day. and realy can use the help. I have so many contracts that its starting to overwelm me. not bragging just can use some help!

Mikey,
Exercise caution here and do your homework. The government is very strict about franchising rules and even more stringent about "business opportunity" arrangements. Not to say you aren't onto a winner, just please do your homework. E mail me if you have any specific questions.

Sound great-however I would say that with the information given it would not work. A true partner does not get 45% of the job a sub would get a percent of the job. Terms and control should be a starting point. For example what would keep him from spinning off after a year and taking 100%-you have no money invested and you are new into hood service. Plan-Plan-Plan!!!!

I know what you are trying to do-but remember you are working with new equipment and you have yet to know what a true net profit would be. If you take it slow the biz. will grow with you, and then add another truck. If you want control this is not the way to go as far as I am concerned.

David Who's to say that I want to capture the market in another location and pass on the good fortune to someone else, I would like to see someone else reap the bennys that enabled me to be the succses that I am thanks to you guys, I have been able to build and construct a great opportunity for anyone. you should feel good about that. I dont mind helping the little guy just as long as he wants to help himself. my cost would be minumal and the rewards would be great to see. someone out there is worth giving a shot. just knowing I helped someone gives me great pleasure. I will help them with no strings and grow them into someone, and hope that someday they will look back and see like I do with all of you and say There trully are people who want others to be great. My costs are very low and have paid my business off in only one month. Not to mention I work a 10 hour job on top of that.:)

Sorry, you are right- go for it. But don't come back and tell us it didn't work-all I am trying to do is share some 57 years of dealing with issues that just come with the years. Did't mean to rain on your parade.

My father owns a company that has 4 partners. Here's the advise he gave me when I thought about maybe taking up a partner in the past. It goes Like this: NEVER TAKE ON A PARTNER!!

In a perfect world yea a partner would be nice to share the wealth with while expanding the business but in the end it usually turns into a power struggle which could destroy the business or worse.

Be your own partner and if you feel like your business has potential to grow then higher the right kind of people to do just that but don't ever give up control of your operation.....Unless of course you can go public which I don't know of any Powerwashing company that has done that.

Good Luck

OK Thanks again. I feel Better. I will Just Continue to stay focused on keeping and running my own thing. I would Like to some day spread out to other areas but I need to take things slower.

You are just trying to spin everyone up-you can't in all good faith think that would be go advice-come on-I am just chuckling to myself. I just can't let you get away with it. Go for it-PLEASE.

In my opinion the liabillty is too high in the business to let it get to far out of you control, I look at before and after pictures of all of our jobs the day after they are done. Anyone can say the cleaned the duct, but it is harder to fake a picture, I even make suprise inspections once in a while just to keep people on there toes.
I found out a long time ago that it is hard to just trust someone to do what is needed, especially when the most important part is out of sight to the customer.
Just a thought.

One more thought, you are not even doing this full time at this point, I think you may be better served to get more experience things get much more complicated with more customers.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds great if you can make it work, I think what you are hearing here is the rest of us who have been doing it for a while have become cynical about what is and is not possible.
