FORCED To Reclaim on Fundraiser Car Wash

Thanks for pulling this up Ron, what a long read! It is definately helping me wrap my head around it all a little more.

Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient for them to filter right at the sewers, waster water drains and whatnot? Or set up the treatment plants to treat things like this? Then they would never have to worry about anyone not complying or putting the wrong things down the drain..

I know that in my neighbourhood they are currently installing new underground pipes and whatnot and it does have something to do with the water quality or something..

*Please excuse my lack of vocabulary and knowledge on this stuff, I really have never paid attention to this before.

As far as I've ever been concerned the whole in the ground was to put the stuff you didn't want to put in the sink. Like dead mice, old paint, car oil etc.

Bingo!!! And it would be much more efficient for us to throw an oil sock around the storm drain and go about our business of making the world cleaner and safer. But our government could give a crap about efficiency.

Al, yesterday, my church mentioned that they are going to have a car wash this weekend. I volunteered my equipment. Looks like I am following the the great footsteps of Al!
Just a follow up.....we had another car-wash planned 24th at our church again...But because of our Wedding Anniversary this weekend, I could not attend and Jonathon graciously accepted to take my place. Unfortionaly they canceled and went with a Christin Charity Comedy Act at our church instead.
Because Jonathon offered to help...our Church is giving him some Free tickets for his family to attend.
Thanks for Offering to help out and looking forward to our first gig together!!

And So History keeps repeating Itself

I had to think about this one a while.....2:15am
I am guilty of not sharing what I do know and believe of what it means to be truly successful and prosperous.
For the ones that know me... know I would not do anything to hurt them or anyone else financially or personal attacks....probably just the opposite.
But I do need to help others more by standing up and sharing my beliefs to others on what it means to me to be truly successful.
Even if I don't say it directly, hopefully you can read between the lines my posts.(hopefully one day I will have the courage and support to speak openly)
Thanks for the pm guys, I really appreciate it.

it all goes round and round. beauty of poor economy is localities dont have the budgets for enforcment aka the new epa regulations for the chesapeake bay. surrounding states say thats great but whose gonna enforce? but it is becoming a larger issue for us fleet cleaners. especially for my operation, lots of oily water, pretty much black in color. ive had these reclaim oems tell me their stuff wont help me, dont buy it. i appreciate their honesty. localities in this area wont give us permit to dump at a sanitary sewer. they say they dont where water comes from so they dont want it even if i filter down to 5PPM, double the state mandate. but i can have safety clean or fcc or a septic service come and get it for $1 a gallon, hahhahha. whats my solution (other than a ditch)? thats why i am working on my own closed loop system that will solve these issues and, I believe I am there. lots more tweaking.

the reality, for me, is that more and more large, national companies are requiring reclamation and some have stopped washing because of these regulations. some have even gone as far as "all natural" soaps, crazy and over kill. epa has even told us they dont care about the chemicals but what comes off the truck because they have mandated it as a hazmat material. on the other hand, it has won us business as well, good, profitble business due to these regualtions which differentiates from our compittion as well. my business needs to either comply or die. which means more change. in addition, it means educating my customers to the reality, which in turn will add value and differentiate us from our low cost compitition.

i agree that these regulations are crazy and over kill. but i must comply because i am required to and my market place is turning in this direction as well. just one fleet washers opinion and my reality. its nice to see i'm not the only crazy s.o.b. out there washing trucks. thanks for signing me up ron. good night all.

I like that one, Comply or Die. hahahahaha

Closed loop systems look like the way of the future but you have to watch out as there are a lot of companies out there using older technology that will not work in a commercial situation and sometimes they are charging way, way, way too much for the equipment.

There is a lot of new tech out there that has not made it onto the market yet, lots of ways to clean without getting fines or tickets.

it concerns me that multiple oems told me their stuff wouldnt work. maybe my water is dirtier than everyone elses. i dont know. cant afford to spend a ton either, especially with the rates out there. working on a solution, hope it works. i think a lot of it is effort and trying to do the right things. our industry rely needs to have a closed loop system, thats cost effective, and works for fleets. maybe there is one and i havenet found it.

There are systems out there that will do the job, are not super-expensive but you have to be careful because some of them involve using floc and one distributor/vendor is trying to sue companies out there that violate their patent on using floc for pressure washing areas. The patent is tricky to get around but I have been told that it is possible, waiting on the info and what to do so I can implement that into my system.
