Gutter Problem

On of my customers has a 40 foot galvanized gutter at the rear of his restaurant. At this location he has a large tree and the gutter is always filled with leafs and other tree things.

The exhaust fan is found at the top side of the roof. The gutter controls the runoff.

The problem is this, we us sodium hydroxide and the owner feels this was a factor is the gutter rotting out at the bottom seam.

It is my opinion that the veg. matter was the main factor in the deterioration of the lower seam. The sodium hydroxide diluted will not effect the gutter. All we service are restaurants and this has not been a issue at other locations. Please give me some feedback.

Thanks
David

Is the gutter a large commercial one? Or just the type you find on a house?

If its similar to a house, I'd just get a gutter contractor out there to replace it (prob $125-150 or so) and shut this guy up. If its a commercial grade/size gutter it's probably more expensive.

Thanks for the information.

David
