i have a mobile detailing and power washing company in kcmo and i was wonder what is the best kind of water to wash the cars on dealerships lots is bc just using the water from the water tower still leaves the cars spotty if i do not get to drying them off fast enough do i need to get a spot free filter?

Get DI water, usually available from Culligan, or GE Pure Ionics. You will thank me, if you have any hardness in your water at all.

I third it... DI water will eliminate virtually all spotting. If you do get any then you know its time to swap out the tanks. Also makes brushless cleaning a lot better.

Ha! So I would have been right. Originally I was gonna just say wet. Lol

I bought a small cartridge unit for a couple small car lots just do final rinse... dumb don't it goes quick.. get mixed bed from mulligan but better get ur money out of them cars or you'll eat it. I don't mess with it now. Comp here gets $3pc most lots here. Clean water isn't free. My waters like 750ppm so...

I would use it for the whole wash process not just the rinse. The DI water will make the soap work better and rinse better without a brush and it wont add to your time it will reduce it. Water quality makes a HUGE difference in detergent performance. In some cases you will be able to just rinse with DI water and get them clean, and without spotting.

The increase in speed will allow you to make more money overall. If you have more time than money you need to take that time to sell more work don't waste it drying a car. In my opinion the right equipment and setup makes all the difference in profitability especially on fleet work (cars trucks etc...) Speed = $$$.

^ exactly^. Working on dealerships is hard work, it's all about quality, quantity and speed. There are up sides though. Mainly once you get an account you have that account once, twice, or three times per week. I currently wash on average 12-1400 cars per day, Mon-Friday. I only spray and chamois. I never scrub. I get my di from Culligan, and I'm happy with the results.

Ricky,

In my experience with car dealerships its more like price, speed, quantity, quality, price and speed being the 2 biggest factors. Care lots tend to want a full service for a self service price. But they can be a good weekly source of income in some markets.
