Have you fallen off a roof before?

I personally have fallen off once (last year) without injury. I have fallen down on roofs a many of times and had a bunch of near mishaps over the last 14 years. Accidentally stepping on my hoses is almost always trouble.
 
I've never fallen **knocking on wood** off of a roof but have slipped a ways down after stepping on the chem hose. I had a roofing buddy that fell off a two story a few years back. He landed like a cat and broke both wrists and both ankles. OUCH!
 
I've fallen ON the roof many times, but never OFF the roof. I always remind my subs that it doesn't matter how much $ anyone is making if someone falls. I try to keep everyone grounded (no pun intended).
 
Did a solo one time and pulled the ladder down with the hose... had to jump off. Fallen down, but never off.
 
I had to jump a few years back. i had a 10 ft step ladder and it blew over. I knew the homeowner was home so I kept pounding on the roof. He never came out. So I went to the lowest spot and kept thinking about how i wanted to be a stuntman when I was younger. So about 8-10 off the ground I jumped & rolled. I actually did pretty well. Still never made it to Hollywood. 10 minutes after I jumped, the homeowner came out and said he was taking a nap

Slipped a few times on hoses.
 
The roof I fell off of last year, I was skiing down and jumped off. I landed and rolled just missing the ac unit. The bad part was I had to get right back up and finish, my ground man was speechless.

My son and I were on a big roof BOTH spraying.
My Son told me to look at this!
There was a beautiful Woman and her College age daughter next door sunbathing by the pool next door.
Mom had a Bikini on, and looked like a 40 year old Aerobic Princess.
She was beautiful.
I was watching her like a Hound in Heat.
I WALKED right off the roof I was working on.
Landed in a hedge of Viburnum :(
The family jewels turned into ear rings that day :mad:

Metal Roofs are my "favorite", feet can go right out from under you w/o warning.

Before I knew better, I have "trapped myself" up on some glazed tile roofs.

I have also "visited" several attics/garages in my time when my well fed azz came right through the roof.

I flat came through a garage roof, landed on an old Studebaker, dented the hood.
ALL the customer caared about was his car :(

My girlfriend called, gota go, c ya :)
 
In June of '05, I had a ladder go out from under me as I was stepping onto a first floor roof. The ladder was too long for the job and I didn't secure the feet. (I forgot I had a new, never used, adjustable Little Giant clone in the van.) I broke my right arm, just above the wrist, tore the right rotator cuff and caused some internal injuries in my right leg. Three operations (two for the shoulder, one for the leg), almost 4 months off, and months of physical therapy to get me back to "normal".

I hired a 19 year old relative of a friend for almost a year. I'd still have him if being to work on time was as important as carousing down at the oceanfront with his friends.
 
Slipped on one - flew into the valley - thank God I stopped. There was nothing but concrete below.
Its amazing how much speed you pick up sliding on a roof, if it wasn't so scary, it would've been fun :)
 
I fell off a tile roof about 15 years ago with a full backpack sprayer. i got lucky and landed feet first but 5 gallons of bleach planted me in the ground and went all down my back. I climbed back up the ladder and finished the roof. I went out and found another way to clean roofs after that.
 
No, thank goodness. I climbed a roof one time that was steeper than it looked. I had to
slide to get back down. There was a chimney at the bottom so I wasn't too worried about
falling off but it was kind of scary.

Twice. Tile both times. Once you slip and start sliding on soapy tile, no amount of clawing, scratching and grabbing is gonna stop you.
Of course, this was long ago when I was young and foolish and getting my first taste of roof cleaning from some idiot local ripoff artist.
I quickly saw him for what he was and we parted ways. Since then I've been cleaning them the right way with no problems at all.
I also knocked a ladder over once due to being in a rush. Luckily, I had my cell phone so i looked up my recently called numbers and phoned the HO inside. She came out laughing and teasing me but I suppose thats cool.
The $1000 checky in the banky more than made up for it.:)

I was doing an old tile roof, this roof had green hair growing off it. Back in the day we would downstream the chemical on the roof then clean with the surface cleaner. I took one step over the back side of the roof and went right down with the surface cleaner thru the screen into their pool with the surface cleaner going full out.

I find it amazing that when we use to clean roof's this way the hose would get caught up on every tile or roof vent up there. But when you need it to get hung up on your way down "Nothing smooth sailing" LOL
 
I fell off the roof last week -- first time. One story but steeper shingle. It looked walkable but I made my 4th step and BAM! I am laying on the ground fortunately on thick St Augustine grass. I didn't get hurt but was a little sore on my right side the next day. No gutter to stop me. I tried again in different spot but slid again. Ended up packing up and going home after telling home owner I couldn't clean her roof. I could have cleaned the front and side working from the edge...but the entire rear had pool screens and I couldn't spray or even see a lot of the rear roof from the side of house to clean. I hated passing up on the $$$ after driving an hour to get there. I turned down another one the other day for a steep 2 story as I only have a 24 foot ladder that wouldn't come close to reaching half the roof lines.
 
I've never fallen off but I have stepped on my hose and bit a hole in my drawers!
 
Are you kidding??? I have perfected falling off roofs .. I have hung from gutters , I have done the tuck and roll .. I have even caught the ladder in mid flight and brought it down with me... But I guess the real scare was falling down a roof covered in Ice.. you get going real fast and cant stop .. Luckly I landed on the top of a dumpster.. But now that I am getting older i try to be more careful .. I have started using a saftey rope on sloped roofs..
