After cleaning out buckets o grease, sweating your ass off in the hood, I am sure many of you have heard this complaint. Golly gee the outside of the hood has some streaks.
What techniques do you all have for cleaning and leaving the outside of the hood streak free.
My way seems far too labor intensive and time consuming with mixed results. I take the nozzle off the wand. Apply degreaser they the wand , rinse with the wand. Then one guy dries the outside of the hood with a clean rag. The next step is to apply polish. With a rag again. When we are doing several large hoods, this takes way too much time. One guy also wipes down the filters and inside of the hood.
I have suggested to my guys that after rinsing, to use a pole squeege, but there are streaks with that too.
Anyone want to share some speedy effective secrets?
 
We use a poll and a polish rag and apply with wide strokes. This works faster and limits ladder falls by employees.:) Works very fast vs. hand work.:)
 
If the hood is dried use a clean dry rag and a pole ( unger makes good ones)
Use Zep x-575 it takes less than 2 oz to do a captive aire 8 foot hood inside and out. keep the rag seprate and it can be reused just wet it enough to get the job done.

My way is very similar to your way. If you use upstream or downstream injection it takes very little effort, unless the grease is burned and baked on. The outside of the hood is also a good area for your helper to keep busy on when he has some downtime.

I would advise charging more if you don't feel your pay justifies the amount of time spent on cleaning the outside of the burned up and baked on hoods.
 
Sometimes I suggest two bids, one for the system without the exterior, and one for the exterior.

I have been using her for 25 years. She works great on old store front window frames for removal of just about anything. Leaves them looking new.

Here is a hood without the polish and one with it from Bunn. $6.99 a can at Home Depot.

That is great-I like that-tell me more-You just polish the inside of the globes-what is the product? Great tip
 
Since there isn't a Home Depot in my town:( , I have to buy a similar product at Lowe's. It's a little more expensive, but it's better than nothing.
 
Is this product sprayed on the inside or outside-how long does it take to degrade???

I only spray it on the outside, unless grease & water have dripped inside, then I spray it on both.
 
Do you use the ZEP gasket lube on the hood globe gasket to help prevent future water and grease from getting into the globe? It works pretty well.
 
HD does not carry this product - I am a little suspect of you Bunn and Grant:D :D :D :D :D :)

In fact the Zep rep does not know of the product-National Accounts
