I picked up a nice little monthly contract cleaning a local hospital loading dock

They are going to have us clean all the other concrete on property, sidewalks, some stamped concrete and curbing.

the curbing out lines the parking all around the property and plant areas etc.

Question whats anybody charging for curbing. its 1 /12 ft wide slanted rain gutter curbing. Now if I go by sq ft, it really doesnt add up to a whole lot, but since its spread out all over and the clean up of the pparking lot attached, The curbing is pretty time consuming but at the going sq ft rate, its just not much money for the work involved

Should I charge by the ft and what is a good linear ft charge

I would say to find a similar type of area, or even an area in that same lot, and do a test clean . Say clean 100 feet and see how long that takes, then figure that every 400-600 ft, you will have to move the rig, howlong will that take, put a price on it. Once you have the time per 100 ft, and a truck move charge figured, then measure out all of the curbs and apply the appropriate charge to the linear footage. That should give you a good idea of the time involved and what your time is worth.
 
I've done curbing and cement car stops between parking spots before. I would suggest that you charge by the foot and then add a minimum charge for the entire job. If you do it during regular business hours (which some hospitals require for maint. inspection purposes), then moving your equipment and avoiding get hit by cars and buses will be worth the extra you add on. By the way, it also drums up alot of extra business. Make sure you have pleanty of business cards with you!

Hospitals are a great source of income for us , we clean vent hoods, concrete, and even clean interior floors with the surface cleaner at the VA Hospital . We get 1600.00 to clean the interior floors takes 3 people about 6 hours. We get about 175.00 per hour to clean The University Hospital Hoods and roughly 1200.00 to clean the concrete.. Remember Hospitals have inspections by alot of different groups instead of just the health dept.. they sort of have thier own governing and inspection people... The standards of a hospital are alot more strict than just a regular cleaning.. I always use words like clean and disinfect ... I charge more but to do the kind of job a hospital expects it just takes longer... Charge more and do a good job and you will get the account..

The hospital work is looking good, the Lead Coordinator (He's a real nice guy) Seems excited about us doing this work and just about everything else. He now wants us to do the Heli pad and ambulance entrance every 2 months. They also have 2 oxygen delivery areas and he told me there cant be any oil at all on these concrete pads ( its something to do with the trucks being grounded) Very tight rules about it. He told me they may call me and it has to be cleaned ASAP. He also said if I ever see one drop of oil , clean it and bill them, I dont even have to ask for the OK

He aslo said he talked to his boss. They are adding a whole floor to this hospital , construction starts in about 3-5 months. Him and his boss want to talk to me about the construction dust & dirt

It all seems real good and exciting, it seems they picked me and thats who they are going to go with for everything, which is great.

Its not a huge hospital, but it is looking like it may turn out to be a real sweet job
