House washing without a trigger-gun or x-jet

I find that the ball valve can be very effective used correctly. If I find that sweet spot, I can rinse with it without pulling soap.

Bumping this one because it's still one of the most-read house wash threads on the board.

The ball valve setup works. It's cheap, it's simple, and it keeps the pressure low on vinyl. That's the big win. An X-Jet reaches higher, but you're carrying a chem bucket and hitting siding with more pressure than it needs.

A few things I tell guys:

  • Soap low and slow, bottom up. Rinse top down.
  • Wet the plants before and after. Don't let the mix dry on the house.
  • When you're done soaping, run clean water through the hose for a bit. Your hose and QCs will thank you.
  • For tall gables, you need a soap nozzle that will reach that high, or a separate pump setup. Don't put a guy on a ladder with a wand if you don't have to.

There's no one right way. Pick what gets the house clean safely and fast for your crew.
