Its 250.00 dollars guys, come one support us, stand together and be counted.

If you use the logo on your stationery its worth 250.00 plus there is more.

Sure we don’t have health insurance and probably never will.

Stop complaining about what we don’t have and send your 250.00 and get involved.

If you call Doc today and give him your money I thank you in advance,
 
Whoa Ron, give DOC my money, why the guy would just add it to the pot when he shows up in Vegas nex March.

I would rather send it to big-boy @ least I know I was helping somebody out and not helping some-body teach the world how wonderfull a "pressure washer is" ..

if your really going to support the PWNA, you know as i do money right now is better than money next year.

Jon, your a freind of mine and I'm asking you not demanding you send it. Money can make differences and help change things.

Right now I believe they are in the works of bettering the inviromental camps for vegas. ( not sure just think they are) maybe mike can confirm.

I realize that you spent alot of money and dont know everything yet. There are people in the PWNA that really know the guidelines. One of them has even sent suggestions to your state.

I don't know if I will be anything or not. I have not been nominated yet for anything. I believe the PWNA (jump in Mike) nominates folks then they are elected in the spring. I think Las Vegas is the next time, and I know I will be in Las Vegas, Chris Detter has asked me to speak again, and I am expanding on what I just did in Pittsburgh. There will be alot of great info in the seminar in Vegas, even more than in Pittsburgh. I can say that if I am nominated I will accept and run for office.

I believe very strongly in education, and in helping others. Rod and I met a very nice young man in Pittbsburgh names Brian (HI BRIAN!!!) and he is here in Maryland. We talked alot during the show, shared tips withhim, and exchanged information. When we got back we called him and invited him to come out and work with us to get some hands on experience with products and job types he had not seen yet. It was wonderful. There was respect and professionalism on all sides, and we know we would work with him again in a heartbeat. We also spoke to folks who are clear across the country and who were eager to help others. This networking is good for us all as a whole, as members and fellow pressure (or power) washers.

Doc is a great guy. In fact, everyone on the board made me feel welcome and was helpful to me, and gave me words of encouragement. Get to know your board of directors folks. Get to know your officers. Talk to them. These are people, and none of them are untouchable. This organization is evolving and growing, as the members and the officers dictate it should. But the organization can't do it alone, it needs the members to share what they want and don't want, need and don't need, and what they think.

I hope to meet many of you again in Las Vegas, and to meet even MORE of you there.

Doc is not the treasurer. Ron mentioned Doc's name because he is our First Vice President. One of the functions of the First Vice President is to oversee membership operations.


I agree with what Ron is trying to say in this thread. The PWNA will not amount to anything without members. We cannot grow and expand the organization without the support of all of you.
 
Ron I was not putting Doc down, it was a joke but I think you took it as meaning I don't trust Doc. I have meant Doc, have shared a few Emails and know he likes to kid around so was hoping he would see the post.

Remember there is a bet on who can lose the most weight in a given amount of weeks, you should have jumped in, you would have won by ton!!

Ron even though not all agree or see things the same way about not only the PWNA but life in general are we not allowed to voice our feelings, good or bad here?

I am speaking about Dan S., Bigboy had a post about sending him money as he is starving etc. and that is where Dan S. was referring to, now whether or not Bigboy is truly hurting I am not sure, if he is I would send him a box or tissue to wipe his eyes with, a roll of tt, no some corn cobs to use in his Privy and a box of crackers with a coupon for some milk. Maybe even a one way ticket to Disneyland so he can have some fun with Dan S.

as far as education .....huh...... all I hear is @ every meeting they talk about the same ole crap ......

good GOD get a pick-up throw a tank and a p/wer in it and anybody can clean ............ rather they are a member or not ....

I have been in this business for almost 8 years ...longer then some members of the pwna and it's "boss's" .... made a pile of $ and no PWNA .......................go-figure

maybe we need a org. for all those who own Dell computers.. send me ohhhhhhh 50.00 and we can start a club .......

We all respect your opinions, but until you actually attend a seminar, you really wouldn't understand. There is much to gain........especially if you put something into it.

I have several personal experiences that have made PWNA shows worth the money, and also have several experiences where being a member has gotten me a job over someone else.

I like your Dell idea..............i bet people would go for it :)

You took the words right out of mouth! So I am going to brush my teeth again! But seriously folks, PWNA membership is principally made up of NEW people, who ultimately quit the business and PWNA. If it was such a necessary organization, people like (insert business people you respect-like David, David, Big-Boy, Jon, Dan etc) would be members and there would be a waiting line to become PWNA. It was initially founded as a marketing tool by Robert Hinderliter, to popularize and professionalize PWing. That being done - it no longer serves the needs of today's INDEPENDENT business people. BBS have ultimately allowed the PW contractors worldwide to communicate and learn from each other everyday and have contributed more to this business than PWNA.

Now when this thread was started did you really believe everybody would join b/c Ron asked?

they cant get members when the big-shoots ask .... what makes us think that members are going to call Doc b/c Ron said so .......

nothing against ya Ron it could of been any-body and I would of said the same thing.......

I wonder if the seamless gutter dudes have a org? ah called GUTRAIN... where they pay some org. 250.00 to say that they have a title.......and that they go accrose the US to get training in how to hang a gutter..

 
why not put your money where your mouth is and send out free tickets to the next PWNA convention.
after all i have even had to do a job for free once in a while to prove the quality of my services
 
naaa they wont do that Tim ...... remember it cost $$$$$$$$ to have people stand in frt. of a class room and tell us what is the best way to get customers ... or ,,, how to wash a cat ....,, or how to re-claim that h20 ..

good grieve if ya dont know how to re-claim and or wash you guys are in the wrong business..

send me your $$$$$$$ enstead of some group I will feed some homeless dude or buy some Christmas presents for a fellow p/wer .......

and yes I do do that anyways but if ya want to add to the kitty send it my way .......
 
Hey DAN...

I didn't make one penny standing in front of the crowd and sharing for an hour and a half. I did it because I wanted to. I volunteered. I learned from others in the audience who shared and participated. Amazing isn't it? That everyone could come and share and learn... And yes, we PAID to get in.

By the way, why do you put down others for sharing what they believe in? I don't care if you agree or not. I just don't think it is very nice to put down or slight those who do see the good in it just because you don't share the point of view.

Do some of you think the PWNA is really some sort of conspiracy?

I hope not. It is made up of contractors, just like us and yes, some manufacturers and suppliers ( they pay a great deal more than contractors and i fealt bad for the companies that showed in pitt. - I know they didn't make much for thier efforts). It is not a money making machine out to steal our money as some of you think - it is a non profit organization, everyhting it collects is to benifit the members. Yes, it does charge money to be a member and to attend the functions. But, this is fact of life- you want to play you got to pay.

Do you get your internet service free so you can visit this site? No, you need to pay so that your server can pay for its resources to provide you the service.

Idea:
If you think the costs of the current organization are high and out of line of what they should be, you could:

a) join that organization, get involved and look at how they could save expence (meet in less expensive venues or have a lower cost administrator, for example)

b) start your own organization that operates on a shoestring but services everyone beyond their expectations.

c) or you could sit here and wait for someone to post an idea about either choice a or b and bash them for their idea - picking apart every constructive thought they have.

hey guys, as with any organization, the PWNA, is not perfect, it needs help form good contractors, like the ones found on this board. If your not going to try do make it better, why not let those involved try to make it better.

I remember when you clobbered me for donating $50 to Dan F. bb and asking other guys to do the same. If you asked me today was is a waste of money? My answer would be NO. Dan F. did a fine job and for that I thought it was worth my $50. To you maybe not because you got the same out of his bb for nothing whereas I paid $50. This is where you and I are different. I'm not saying your wrong at all. I just believe that if someone is trying to help something that I believe in then I don't mind rewarding them because I was rewarded 10x. It just the way I am.

As for the PWNA I respect your opinion. Can't argue about it because that is what you believe in. Once again as for me I am a member and I know $250 is a hefty price to pay but I believe as Ron M. and others do that this ORG. can be a great thing even if it is no there yet.

If it finally becomes all that it could be and guys like yourself join thats great. I will feel good about myself because I helped it get to that point. With that in mind it doesn't always come down to $$$$ and how you got over because you were never a member when they didn't offer much. ITs about what you believe in.

Like I said I am not debating you. Its just a different belief system. Most people are like yourself where they make sure its worth there $$ to them to become a member and then there are the people from the begining who either spent the money or volunteered or did both knowing that in the end if it didn't work out, at least they tried to make it better for people in there work field. ITs how any GROUP or ORG. starts.

After saying all the above it doesn't mean that every year I will just pay $250 and thats it. Obviously if the PWNA doesn't try to better itself as its been doing over the years and then they just become stagnant then of course I will move on.

I also have to add I don't know If I would have came out Like Ron M. did by just asking people to pay to become members because of the backlash that can come out of it like the way you responded but I applaud his EFFORT and guts to lay it on the table like that. At least he is trying to Help and ORGANIZATION that in the end might be able to help out guys like yourself.

OK I'm off the stand. Next person up...

Some stadiums these days are sponsored by large oublicly traded coprorations such as Fed-Ex. There is one in our area, and the Redskins play their. The company pays HUGE amounts of money to be publicized and have their name mentioned as "Fed-Ex" field.

Major corporations do market themselves. How else do you think they BECAME large? And do you think for one minute that these businesses are NOT involved in organizations? You bet they are. The top level people in the companies are often also involved in charity work. They do so much for the communities around them.

The people who are involved in the PWNA want to better themselves, their businesses, and the businesses of others through networking and continuing education. You're never too old to learn something new. I try to learn something new every day.

I’m being direct because I’m NOT politically correct and never have been. I have strong beliefs and I support them. I say things out loud that others may be afraid to say. ( I’m a leader Not a follower)


I too was against the PWNA when I first heard of the org. everyone still says bad things and puts the org. down. I have now seen that they are trying to move forward and in the next couple of years the organization is on the move for bigger things.

Bottom line $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The organization needs contractors, distributor, manufactures & suppliers. With out a balance no one can win.

We have put our differences aside and our opinion are not the same. Fortunately this BBS allows us to be different and share different opinions. (I love that) with the PWNA you could have a voice and change things. I believe the problem is that your beliefs about helping other learn are not the same as mine. I don’t think showing my neighbors how to PW has hurt me one bit. Dan I meet with guys in my area every month. We share ideas thoughts and learn and improve our businesses from each other.

Dan S, why didn’t you come to the round table in NJ last month? It was free, I now make more money after I walk away from the meeting. One contractor or maybe two is making more money from the things I enlightened them with. Maybe they will tell you in this thread?

Dan s. this is my opinion but you make what you do seem easy. Maybe its easy for you but when I washed trucks it was not easy. If I knew then what I know now I would still be washing trucks, well maybe? My point is I’m a wiser pw now. You seem to know it all, that’s what I get from listening to you. A little H20 and a brush, that’s all. Sorry Dan its not rocket science but running a successful business is difficult for me. I learn new things everyday.



Do we want medical insurance? How about group buying power? Discounted liability insurance? A voice with the EPA? Do we want to be heard or do we all want to crawl back into our holes and operate without the guidance of and org. looking out for our interests.

One day in the future if no one does anything they will tell us, stop contract cleaners. I’m seeing the headlines,,,, READ ALL ABOUT IT, contract PW linked to contaminating ground water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All pressure washing has been Banned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
