I thought my surface cleaner broke

Got to the second job today. Small house with a lot of concrete. Put my helper on the house and I went to the concrete. As soon as I started the concrete cleaner (Landa Water Jet) it started vibrating and making a funny noise. I thought "well I'm going to need another water union".

I took it over to the trailer to switch it out for my spare surface cleaner when I had a thought. Could it be a clogged nozzle?

Flipped it over and started the pw. Ran it on idle and sure enough only one of the nozzles was spraying.

After a quick clean out and re install it ran like a champ.

Just thought I would share this. I know I'm going to check mine before every job from now on.

Al, how long have you been washing?
Also, do you really want to remove tips to clean them before every concrete cleaning job?

Since 2007. Thats the first time it happened to me. I usually go through all my tips, hoses and connectors about once a month. I'm kind of anal about that stuff. Hate to break down on a job. I believe in Preventive maint.

An inline filter is always a good idea especially if you disconnect your hoses a lot because you have a greater opportunity to introduce foreign matter that way.

Paul, can you get the new larger 3/8" high pressure filters?

if you get me a model number or a little more info on it I am sure I can.

Paul, I have always heard that these inline filter restrict flow to a certain extent...True/False?
Yes they do to a certain extent, anything you do that ads a bend or length or any type of friction will effect flow rates. In most cases it is not usually enough to effect performance though until you get into the higher flow rates.

We keep spare tips on the truck and change them out if they get clogged. Then clean them later. We also have found that they seem to get clogged most often when pushing them without pressure, in other words when the ball valve is turned off. The skirt will throw the little pieces of grit up in them when it scrapes across the surface.
