Hello all, I am interested in attending a hood training/ certification school. I have seen alot of different ones offered. I wnat the best bang for the buck. I am in Kalamazoo MI, and as anyone knows, our economy is tanking by the minute. I have seen some offered at $10,000 and some at $1500. The lower end looked like it was being offered in the guys trailer park. I just want to know if you guys/gals can attest to any of the cleaning schools out there.
Thanks
Doug

You have lots of options from high cost to low cost. One option would be to work with a company in another state and then take the Ackland’s testing study guide and test. Other ideas would be Five Day hands on course at Derby. Plus there are other programs that offer much the same thing. Give me a call if you like.:)

Which would you attend? I have worked under someone else and know the basics of the job. I also have performed a few of my own jobs. I had the reality of the liability as I watched one of the nicest restaurants in our town burning because of the exhaust hoods not being cleaned right. That is why I want to do it all the right way.

If I were just getting in to the business, I would go the cheapest route to start. I mean hey its not rocket science right?

I attended HoodCleaningSchool.com in 2004. I learned the basics, been full time since a month after I got back from school. You will be taught a one-man operation way of doing things.

Here is a progression of the work I've done since attending school.

The first pic shows a before pic, the second one is the best I could get it with my knowledge learned at the school. The third is how it is now thanks to the training and advice given on The Grease Police, this board, and The Grime Scene.
