An Iron River restaurant burst into flames Saturday afternoon.
Happy Italians Roma Café and Lounge caught on fire shortly after one o'clock. Kitchen staff noticed smoke coming from the kitchen ceiling and immediately evacuated the restaurant and called 9-1-1.
The West Iron County Fire Department made it to the scene shortly thereafter and was able to put out the fire within minutes.
There were no injuries, and the fire did not spread into the dining area of the restaurant. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but firefighters suspect it could have been started by faulty exhaust fans in the kitchen.
