Hey John,

Its good to see your right on top of the game and are so diligently observant. I appreciate you speaking for others (as I am sure they do) and letting me know that my posts are just too long for all of them. I must get at least 20 private messages a day telling me the exact same thing:

"Hey Parker, your posts are just too long, can you please shorten it up, I have time to screw around on the internet but I don't have enough time to read your long posts!"

If I only had a nickel for everytime someone tells me that. The rest of your post,John, is unintelligible to me as I would like to comment on it, but I MUST keep this post short! See, I am just as angry as ever and I can still swear too. But you are right things are going well. Shit Ya! (Oops, did I just swear!)

John, you offer alot of quick judgements and short, unprepared conclusions in many of your posts so as you so graciously offer me advice (speaking for everybody else's needs) then I too offer you some narrow minded advice- Electing yourself the people's voice of the length of Parkers posts is not appreciated by Parker.

So hopefully we have cleard the air on that. On another note I hope everything is going well with your condition! I have lost 60% of my vision in my left eye so I know
somewhat of what you have to deal with. Good Luck!

P.S. Give hoods a try- its just good clean fun, easier than it looks, almost completely problem free, and hardly anyone is doing it!

Dodsonish,

Your posts are funny!

That says it all.

Ok Your Right .. I Been Cleaning Hoods 14 years in Mississippi.. Where there is no certification required for hood cleanings or fire equipment inspection.. Go figure.. 14 years ago I worked hard day and night for very little money cleaning vent hoods for some company that paid me about 30%..After 3 years I went out on my own .. Hey like I said I been doing this 14 years and you know what I still learn new things every day..
But to back you up I will say this..
The FLY BY NIGHT GUYS WILL LOSE IN THE END..
to charge a low price of say $ 135.00 they must not have insurance( or very good insurance at that..)) I have been with nationwide for 10 years now both in the hood cleaning and fire equipment industry,, That kind of says alot .. When some new kid on the block comes in and under bids me .. I note to my customer that 1) I am covered by the largest insurance company in our state. 2) I havent had a claim filed against me in the 10 years I have been with my insurance company... and as a final deturant I show him the duct work , links, fans and all the places that we clean that other cheaper companys may not..

So they usually stay with me.. But if they don't they will come back you better believe it..

And hey that's when I go up on My prices just a little more.

AMEN!!!!

QUALITY IS THE WORD OF THE DAY.

If you give Ferrari Service and some offers Nash Service..
You win .. Always.

I had a customer of mine go with another company last year.. I was charging him $350.00 .. The chemical salesman for the restaruant told my customer that he cleaned vent hoods on the side .. for $ 150.00 No Matter what shape form or size..
My Customer called me and I Said Go For It !!!
4 Days Ago I got a call From this same customer saying that his fan would not work and if I could please come take a look cause he could not find the chemical guy and his restaurant was full of smoke .. The Fan on the roof was so full of grease that I had to pry it off with a crow bar, Grease was built up on the bottom of the fan 4 inches thick.
So what did I Do.. I sold him a Fan for $ 1300.00 and I now Clean his hood again , but now for $ 400.00 Every 2 months.

The Fly By Night Companys may cost us now , But if your patient and wait for them to screw up .. The Pros Will Be Victorious.....

THE FIRE PROS

B&R FIRE PROS

I always keep up with all pressure washing and hood cleaning companies.. The best business is a business that keeps up and learns from it's competitor's..

Glad to be here!!!

Just stummbled in I Guess....

Damn I Can't Sleep....Been taking lordaine and humibid all day for this nasty cold.. Any way I really read all this stuff.. And Then I thought of how I first got Started. No yellow pages, No truck signs, No Flyers. I made up Business Cards on My home Computer and would go out every day and night handing out cards.. I must have handed out a thousand and then I got my first call . It was a old customer of mine from when i used to work for ( the other company). All that was said was " we want to give you a try"
It took me all night ( 8 hours to clean one hood) but that hood was spotless. The next day I got another call and they said did you just clean merilee's hood .. I said yes.. They Said well when can you come and clean ours I said tonight... You know what, I got to thinking about the price thing is that most of my customers really never ask how much...Most of my business comes from ( word of mouth) and would you believe our annual income for 2004 was well over 600,000. I think once you get in to the good rep zone your there.. . also recall when I went out on my own I had a bunch of phone calls from other fire equipment and vent hood cleaning companies offering me good money to go to work for them.. and I Didn't..

Matter of fact I got a call the other day from a company that was real mad because I took one of there accounts.. He said I went in and cut his price and took the account.
LISTEN...
I cut his price by $ 5.00 .. Truth the customer had not been happy with this guys work, he never showed up on time, he always cancelled and she was tired of it.. So I got the account. Not Only Her Account but her brother's restaurant also.

I think the best thing to do is be honest , Consistent , dependable , and humble.

The Best sell you can make is to offer your customer peice of mind.. and yes The Joe's are out there . But I Know something they don't.. I know where they are and they don't care where I am ..... That's there first mistake..

John that is great advise.....I have always been "firm, but polite" which works well for me in KEC sales.

I think it's funny that he called you pissed off ,that you "took his account".That is the first sign of an amateur, thinking he might rattle you. When I lose to a competitor, shame on me.Nothing is "mine "unless I do the right things to keep an account, and when I value something I do everything in my power to deliver 110% and over deliver. The guy sounds like a clown.Nobody likes losing an account, but any pro knows that's business, and personally makes me go into overdrive to replace that account with 2 better ones.I like to be positive in all my business dealings, but I would have blasted the guy back over the phone.I am not saying that is the best response, but I don't deal well with obnoxious clowns.I like your advise John.I like your advise too Chris, especially with oriental "Firm but polite", "Come on buddy give me best price, other guy do for $200 dollar, why you say $1200 dollar!!!!!!!" Lol! :)
