Kohler Aegis down to heads

I'm not sure of the exact failure but engine overheated and head gasket blew - antifreeze all in the oil a real disaster. Took engine apart and had a valve job done while the heads were off. Of course there are no parts to be had here so my good friend Mr Cooney got the parts in Phoenix and put them on a shuttle for a same day delivery :bow-down: . Engine was immaculate inside with almost no wear whatever on the cylinders, honing still visible, at 2500 hrs - synthetic oil rocks.

You'd think maybe the head gasket blew though a water jacket which caused the engine to overheat? I'd sure check the surfaces to make sure the head didn't warp before I wrapped it back up.

I got the heads glass beaded, checked for cracks and the valves done for $80, they said they didn't need to be faced. I may have let the radiator get low, the fill tube was pulled out of the bottle a little and I didn't see the level going down, I'm not sure what the failure was caused by.

It's 750 cc's. Engine is about 4 times quieter since the valve job.
