OK guys, I know nothing yet, but just got an offer to purchase a machine. I'm getting this info secondhand, so I'm not sure if it's all correct for the machine, but here we go. They say it is a trailer, with a 1999 Honda 3500 machine. They say it is easily able to adapt to hot water? It comes with 2 100 foot hoses, some nozzles, exten. etc, a large tank (maybe 100 gall.) and a surface cleaner. The lady will take $2500 cash for it, says machine alone was bought for over $5000. I'm not ready to open business yet, but should I grab it? Getting the machine setup is the most expensive part of startup right? (I hope).
 
If it is in good condition i would consider it if you are looking at getting in business. Trailer should be worth around 1000.00 surface cleaners go from 400 up depending on type and size. try to find out more details about equipment
 
First- Honda does not make pressure washers. Never have and most likely never will.

Second- a cold water pressure washer, even belt driven, will not cost much more than $2500 maximum.

Third- a heater module will cost you up to $2000 to give you the option of hot water.

Fourth- a trailer, sinlge axle, can be bought new for $1500 and the price goes up depending on number of axles, type of brakes and enclosure.

Fifth- how many hours are on the pressure washer?

Sixth- most commercial cleaners use 225 gallon or larger water tanks.

And so on. I suggest you get more information on the package. Research the business more (search this or other BBS's) for helpful information and basically perform Due Diligence before you leap into the fire.

All of us would hate to see you or anyone being sold something that is not right for what you want to use it for and most important over pay for it.

Another thing to be concerned about is the axle weight of the trailer. Standard is 3500 GVW, not a lot can be carried with a single axle with that weight limit.

A hot water machine in the long run is less costly then adding a hot box to a cold machine. My opinion and I have never had a hot box or cold water machine. I do know of someone who has and had tons of problems.
 
Well I asked.......I knew I needed more info about this setup, but like I said it is all secondhand, and it's like pulling teeth to get what I got. One thing I have learned is I that I do need hot water to properly clean the type of properties that I want. It does not sound as easy to convert as they were making it sound. I am learning all I can for the time being, and thought if I had a good deal I could grab it and sit on it. I think I am going to stick to the good old saying "you get what you pay for", and hold off until I can invest in the proper equipment.
I just got my powerwashers guidebook in the mail today, and can't wait to read it. I'm just going to sit back and learn more before I jump. Thanks to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
