no pressure

Got a weird situation on a 4gpm machine that hopefully some one can help.I started the machine this year and everything good for 4 or 5 minutes then lost all pressure. After talking with Tech Rep from cat pump about the 3120 model the pump was replumbed around unloader and the pump works so the problem is in the unloader and the brand name is unknown but no matter where you adjust the unloader their is no difference and all the supply water going through the by pass hose.If you plug off by pass then you have pressure. I am going to replace the unloader but my question is what causes a unloader to just stop working? Russ Webb

How long did the machine sit not used? It probably has rust or corrosion built up on the insides of the unloader.

If a machine sits that long the Orings in the unloader or the Packings in the pump may have dried out and when you turned it on it may have dammaged them.
or
there could be something stuck inside the unloader between the ball and the seat.
I would take the Unloadervalve apart and see what is going on. if everything looks good put some oil on the orings and put it back together and give it a try.
