One or Two Man Crews?

Where were they trained Josh?

We've been running 3 men crews for 2 years now. We have a roof tech, inside tech, and a runner. We pay them by the job and we are fortunate to get on average 4-5 jobs done a night with the secret being keyed accounts and running two guns off one machine.

We have one van (dodge sprinter van) and one machine.

We rigged our machine to allow us to use two spray guns at one time.

It's a sweet set up...we on average run at 45% expenses.

So is this thread afficailly "dead"....and we've learned what? systems can be cleaned by one .......but doing so limits the scopes of jobs ...ok I got it.:D

C'mon man this is a dead thread.....1 man can---no he can't...1 man can!!!.....no he can't. It's safe--no it's not....it's safe!!! ---no it's not!!!
i think it's dead.....and this come's from a reluctant 1 man crew.

no its not!

1 or 2 or 3

I use 2 man crews at mininum, safety is the key. We are out there nasty, greasey & wet on a roof where you see all kinds of interesting things not to mention the weather. After going off a roof a little over a year ago & breaking both bones in my right arm that required surgery I will not enertain the thought of doing a job by myself or having a helper I make way to much $. Hopefully none of you out there will have to experience this to change your mind. If you are a 1/man operation it limits you to much. Spend a little $ on some help & don't be so tight. Plus it looks more professional.

Doug,

Sorry you fell off a roof - glad you are OK now. Not making light of your situation but you could have slipped and fallen on the kitchen floor and broken something there. too. The accidental fall couldn't be prevented by your helper. Gravity took over and that's that. The helper if he's awake can use the cell phone and dial 911. You can go on 364 jobs and have no problem but the 365th can be a pistol. It seems to me that we do jobs that helpers are in the way and other jobs where helpers are indispensible. What I think that Dodson is saying is that he has a system whereby he can go and do those jobs that don't need a helper by himself. The other jobs he takes along assistance. I know of several companies that run one man trucks because they have selectively culled their accounts to pick out the single-man jobs and that's their focus. They all have the same story, they were tired of retraining new people every few weeks. So they sold off the excess trucks and went smaller. They are all happy campers. It's simply a matter of choice.

1 or 2

I have did many jobs by myself & it is extremely hard to find help that will take the interest that we do in our hoods. Granted 1-man will work but the safety & professionalism I personally feel out weighs the theology of 1. If it works don't fix it does also. So I agree to disagree, just be safe.

That is exactly what I am saying. I do however choose to employ 2 man crews, for professionalism. Very seldom will I send an employee alone.

SAFETY is the key! One man, the boss, can be as safe as a crew of dozens. Don't you love it when your guys drive away leaving a trail of rubber. That's sure a confidence builder. Two man and three man crews can be safety hazards especially when they spray caustic at each other to see who can get the vinegar to leave no burns. "It's hurts less than a tattoo." It takes a special guy to be a hood cleaner helper.

Matt,

Are you one of the 1 man crews and Chris the other. I believe it's a sign of the times that the foam technology allows you to perform your work more efficiently. I heard that Darryl and doc are running their own 1 man trucks, too. The new Bush border fence is hurting his supply of workers.

Is Darryl have a cert I know Doc does? Doc picked his up the same time I was Knighted into the order of the "Filters".

Hey Matt, Im in your fair state for a few days. Im in San Diego ( Miramar ) and up in Ramona. We will be leaving sunday afternoon for a road trip back to TX. Just popped in for a few days to pickup my Marine and help him drive back to TX.

Matt.

That is so cool, congratulations on your new procedures. I assume you do all the paperwork during the day and answer the phones so Chris knows where to go for sales calls. All that money is going into your bank, before long you'll be independently wealthy.

David,

I heard that Darryl is in a special category and doesn't need an ordinary certificate. He created the concept of certification and allowed Phil "the Guru" to eat at his table. Any system he or Phil cleans is fire-exempted. By the way, foam is an essential part of their process. They carry lifetime certificates authorized by the Davinci Code, which is the basis of our NFPA 86 and 96.

Hey Michael, I hope the weather stays nice for you, wouldn't want you to go back to Texas with any disparaging remarks:D I'd hate to take time away from you and your boy but if you want to meet up give me a call. If not buy a beer for that fine young man from me and tell him thanks for all he is doing, I'll send you something nice in return.

Indy, We no longer need any office personell or anyone to answer the phones. Anyone that calls gets a message quoting our prices over the phone and they can "press one" to accept the price and schedule or "press 2" to leave a message. We don't have to handle complaint calls anymore either because the foam doesnt leave a mess and they are so impressed when they see it that they forget that we were there to clean the system so they don't even check. If you want to buy a Bryan Foamology franchise let me know, I accept all major credit cards and of course cash is nice.:D

Matt,

I am so confident of success that the check is in the mail. I was planning on using the money to buy a couple of new houses (property values are dropping here), but I feel that Foamology is like money in the bank. Thanks for the opportunity to achieve greatness. I am convinced that I'll be able to encourage others to participate that I am contacting all the Amway dealers in Indiana to get onboard with their investments. Maybe Barbara Walters and 20/20 will do a story and they can call it, "The Creaming of America." Matt you are headed toward unreasonable wealth.
