I just relocated to the Alexandria Va/Washington DC area from Vermont. In Vermont, I was averaging around $ 500.00 per job. The first cold call I made
here was a fast food mall place, 6' hood 50' to roof. He's paying $120.00. Not a good start, however I did get a nursing home for $400.00 today. Things have got to get better.
Sorry, I am not from that area. However, $120 pricing dosen't look good and I'd hazzard a guess that this "guy" isn't setup to clean properly; which will limit the number of jobs he can do (say 5% of the total market). Anyone else is charging more to cover costs so it would HAVE to get better.
In theory, if a guy is charging $120 and covering 5% of the market, it would take 20 of these guys to cover 100% of the market. If there aren't more than 20 cleaners, your odds are pretty good that the pricing isn't around $120 per job.
Without seeing the 6' hood, it's hard to quote it. It might take only take 30 minutes to do and might be a light use cooking system requiring only to spray chemical and wash. But, I'd say it would have to be better pricing; this lowballer hasn't (and can't) taint the entire area with his bull pricing.
