PSI???

I have a 13HP 4gpm, 4000PSI direct drive unit that is 3 yrs old.

I was only getting about 2000 PSI a few months ago. ( tried new nozzles and checked to make sure that I was using the right ones, still at 2000PSI)

Replaced the unloader, adjusted it to see just what I could get now.
still at 2000 PSI.

Replaced the Pump last week, now at 2200 PSI.

Removed unloader, connected whip line directly to pump with gun trigger taped open. Still at 2200 PSI.

I have tried turning my engine throttle up, and no difference.

When I let go of the trigger it will go to 4100PSI before it kicks into bypass mode.

I am using #4 Nozzles, even tried #3.5 only added about 200 psi

I have to believe that it is my engine at this point, even though it seems to run very well.

am I missing something???

something may be clogged. If you tried another pump then it has to be something futher down line. Have you tried to get the pressure at the pump and then at the end of the hose?

Your pump is obviously possessed by demons. A exorcism is required - or maybe try a different gauge or possibly a new gun. You might also want to check the rpms with an inexpensive hour meter. Another test is to fill a bucket without a tip and see how many gallons you get after 1 minute.

check the local pawn shops and just get a new machine if you need it soon then fix the old one when you have time and have a backup

check valves good?
You change the pump?
what is your rpm? should be around 3600

I would say worn seals and check valves.

I did replace the pump last week, brand new general 4040g

I thought the 4040 was a belt driven pump? i have a 4040 on a belt.. not direct drive.. you may have another version..
