PWNA Convention booth for...

I was just banging my head around to see if I could come up with an Idea of how the PWNA could make some Money.

Maybe they could have a booth at there Conventions where some guys can bring used equipment that they are thinking of selling. Somebody could run this booth that is a PWNA member and maybe the PWNA could get 10% of the sale of any used equipment that is sold at this show.

Or Possibly even charge any person 50$ or whatever they think is resonable to charge someone in advance who wants to bring used equipment to this convention that they would want to sell.

Of course there could be a problem with space so another Idea would be to charge anyone lets say 15$ to bring in a piece of paper with a picture of what they want to sell and the prices and this person could keep the Equipment in the parking lot at the convention in there trailer,Truck or whatever and sell it out there.

I know if I was at a convention I would, besides looking at the new toys I would definitely go to the used area and see if I could find myself a steal of a deal.

I guess the down side to this is that the convention could be turned into a flee market also and that could be something that might offend some powers to be.

The only rule I would have in place here if this idea was to fly would be that all used items that are to be potentionaly sold at any convention would have to be related somehow to POWERWASHING in one way or another. THat way there is no flee market feel.

Just an Idea so don't shoot me.;)

Hey John,

Love your ides, we have actually talked about selling used stuff at the conventions, but very few people wanted to lug the equipment to the show plus a lot of people fly to the shows and don't have a way to get it home.

Thinking out loud.....

But I'll tell ya, for those who live close enough to drive, Your idea does grant a lot of merit, I know that exhibitors have to pay $450.00 + to rent a space, but there always seems to be a corner somewhere in the exhibit hall or even outside, maybe we could try it.
Also I wonder if we (the organization) would get some flack from those exhibitors who pay for there booths and sell there new stuff. and not wanting us to sell used......
I will suggest it to the board tomorrow, John I'll let you know what everyone sez, If it flies maybe we could name it John T's store, for the idea

We are working on setting up a store on the web site where we can possibly sell things, t-shirts Hats decals books plus Allowing members and non-members to sell used equipment too
Thanks for your help, and keep on thinking of ideas like this.

Thanks again buddy, hope your having a profitable summer .

I have been an active member of several professional organizations over the past ten years. Many of these organization hold regional and national meetings several times each year. And most of them try to generate additional revenue for either charitable purposes or to help offset the costs for the members of the associations travelling to attend the events.

What I have seen work well for generating this additional revenue to the organizations are raffles and auctions for cash, prizes, trips etc. Most of these would be donated from industry suppliers, but if you extend an invitation, many other industries should be more than willing to donate as well:
Airlines
Travel Agencies
Hotels
Cab & Limo Services
Insurance Agencies
Accountants
Computer Manufacturers
Software Vendors
Business Analysts
Sports Associations
Local Restaraunts
Local Bars
& more

Our last event in Florida for the Club Manager's Association of America netted over $135,000 (a one-day event) that we donated to charity. All of it came through in the form of donations from vendors like I noted above.

John,
Thank you for your suggestion,
We are in the process of getting our vendors to donation items for the Pittsburgh convention and offer them as raffle prizes.

I will take your suggestions to the board for discussion, also please make the same suggestions to the new PWNA bulletin board www.pwnabbs.org or go to www.pwna.org and link it from there.
Thanks again
