Referral program?

$10 isn't really enough to get people looking for you. I think that anyone that would refer you for $10 would refer you for free.

I have done some programs in the past with my plowing services and received a few referrals. I have also done no programs and received the same amount of referrals. You may be better suited investing the $10 in sending the customer a thank you card following your services and remind them that most of your business comes from referrals. When you treat them well they like you and are glad to help you find more work.

100 dollars Visa gift card if someone refers a customer that ends up hiring us. Or depending on the job I will discount on future maintenance work. I've got one guy at the front of a 'hood that led to a dozen decks so far. Although they weren't all direct from him its a triangle effect and he was the source...I'll be doing his deck for free next time around.
 
Thanks for the input everyone. I do like the idea of a follow up letter. So far I do have quite a following, everyone has been happy with the work and service they have received. We have had several good referrals. Allready thinking ahead to next year and trying to come up with new things.
