What(and remember I'm a window cleaner) is the formula for estimatin square footage on a roof, taking into account pitch, hips , valley's dormers ect. The simplest answer wins my undying gratitude...if it works.

Roof measurements

Gav,
A good rule of thumb is to take the total square footage of the house and add 1/3 to allow for the pitch.
Example-- 2,000 sf x .333= 666 sf. 2,000 sf + 666 sf.=2,666 sf.
There will be an article in CLEANER TIMES mag. in May, which I participated in, that explains all about roof cleaning.

Happy Cleaning,
Ron

Am getting ready to put a new roof on my house this spring. Have a regular one story A- frame ranch style house. To figure out the amount of shingle and paper could I do this?

Measure from peak down to gutter (width) from end to end (length) multiply those and then double the total.
(length X width X 2) Dont know what the pitch of my roof is.

Thanks
