Seeking Advice for a Bathroom Remodel

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a bathroom remodel and could really use some advice. My bathroom is small, about 5x8 feet, and I want to make it feel more spacious and modern.

I’m considering updating the vanity, flooring, lighting, and possibly replacing the tub with a walk-in shower. I’m unsure about which materials are both durable and stylish, especially for high-moisture areas.

Also, I’m debating whether to tackle some of the work myself or hire a contractor. Has anyone done a similar remodel recently?

Any tips, pitfalls to avoid, or product recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I recently did a bathroom remodel in a similar-sized space, so I can share a few tips. For making a small bathroom feel bigger, I recommend a floating vanity because it opens up floor space and creates a modern look. Large-format tiles on the floor and walls can also make the room feel less cramped. For moisture resistance, porcelain or ceramic tiles are great, and quartz countertops hold up well without much maintenance. Read more about how to choose the right tiles and materials for small bathrooms. As for lighting, layered lighting works best with overhead, task, and accent lights. If you’re not experienced with plumbing or electrical work, hiring a contractor for those parts can save headaches.
