Shur-flo and hose length.

I currently use a home made sprayer (hand cart w/shur-flo)
I want to mount the shur-flo on the truck because I am sick of lugging the thing around and I am very sick of spilling chems all over peoples lawn. When it is cold the hose tends to stay stiff and gets tangled and coiled and I end up getting pissed and yanking the hose and quite a few times the bucket has tipped.
I have a 60 psi 1.4 gpm pump. Will this go through a 250 hose? and where can I get a hose reel with chem resistant seals for it?

John, I currently am using a Reelcraft hose reel for that same application. As long as you flush the line with water when you are finished you shouldn't have any problems. Stay away from the low cost air line hose reels , as they will not hold up.

John, the answer to your question is somewhat dependent on you need at the nozzle tip. Not sure what (inside) diameter tubing you are using, but the rough pressure drop through 250 feet would be 35 psi through 3/8" tubing, and 10 psi through 1/2" tubing (@250 feet). This assumes no additional pressure drop through fittings, kinks, etc.

I recently set up a Shurflo system, and went with a 100 psi pump because I was wanting to spray on walls many feet in the air. Like you, I am using a 1.4 gpm pump - I would have purchased a 3 gpm pump but I found that the materials of construction of the larger pumps were not compatible with my chemicals.

Without knowing exactly what setup you have, and what you are doing, my best guess is that you will want to use 1/2 " tubing if you go to 250 feet length.

We are useing a spray cart with a shur-flow also. We have approx. 200-250 ft of 3/8 hose on it . I found that We had problems with the pump pushing some of the materials we use throw that length of hose, so I adjusted the set screw in the pump and it worked fine.

What types of chemicals do you use the pump for. I have heard people talk about these type pumps. Do you spray stain or cleaning chemicals. If for house washing materials, is it better than bucket and X-jet setup?

Power clean, 95% of the time I use an X Jet, or similar device. I wanted a shurflo set up when I am forced to clean small brick jobs on sites without water. Also to apply chemicals without dilution. Also to apply chemicals where the concentration is extremely important (i.e. can't afford variable dilution).

I use mine for stripper, sodium percarbonate cleaners and thin sealers. It works great.
