Sikkens

Has anyone run across SIKKENS (i think that's how it's spelled) it supposedly needs three coats, the last one being a 'season' after the first 2. A guy wants me to power wash his house and deck in preperation for the 3rd coat of Sikkens.

What I was wondering, is if anyone knows if I can use any Chemicals on this stuff, and what are thay?

Second Question.... (I asked this in a reply to another thread but should have done it here)

BLEACH? A painter told me he uses it 1to 1 with water on everything... Wood, siding driveways, and concrete... Is he telling me the truth, or is there something to this?

While bleach IS useful in many cases, I've always heard it is not good on wood.

Bleach is good for killing mold/mildew, not for washing....You need something that will break down and lift the dirt, like a good soap. There are many, some better suited to different applications. You should find a lot of info on this board about what chemicals work in what application.

Some pressure washers who don't know their chemicals do use bleach on just about everything...And they don't get the results they could get if they'd use the right chems.

Thanks

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I've seen some of your other posts and I am grateful for your input.

Thanks!!

Keep the advice coming, it's free! isn't it?

Druno,
I just finished a deck with the 3rd coat of Silkins. I used a mild sollution of bleach on it and then about 1000psi when cleaning. It cleaned up easy. I put the other 2 coats on last year. It took a long time to get those on, it had to be brushed on. For the 3rd coat I used a 18" roller on the floor and it went fast. The railing took longer because they were all lattice but it looks great.

Bruno,
There are different Sikkens products. Sounds like you are describing the Cetol DEK.
