Smoke Damage on metal carport.

Any suggestions on what will remove smoke damage from metal on a metal carport. Sorry I don't have a picture.

Just to be sure, painted metal and assuming its normal steel not aluminum. What was the fire that happened do you know? Different materials leave different types of smoke damage.
