Our softwashing set-up uses an electric soap pump and high flow gas rinse pump for maximum efficiency. We apply our cleaning solutions to surfaces with about 6gpms and 80psi. We rinse with a 15gpm hypro at about 150psi @ the nozzle. Solutions are mostly bleached based with surfactants and smell goods mixed in fresh on site with agitators for each application. We all can softwash with pressure washers and JB type pumps, even Bobs roof bandit is set-up for it, we just do it this way. All cleaning and rinsing is done with garden hose nozzles and 300' lines. We use 2 lines at all times, one applying soap & one wetting down and rinsing. We clean all surfaces using the same methods from roofs, to siding, to concrete only the concentrations change.

There are many ways to do it, That is one way. I think more or less that's considered pressure washing, since you are using a pressure washer. I would never try to knock anyones methods, as this is a great example of how to clean effectively without excessive pressure. By using a whole different approach to it, softwashing is very appealing to many people in this area. This is not to say that pressure washing methods are bad, it just eliminates the fears some people have of "high pressure" and the possible damage it can cause in the "wrong" hands. I pressure washed everything for about 10 yrs and watched these "Softwash" guys advertise and had the same thoughts some of you are having. I saw the hand writing on the wall, so about 4 yrs ago I started putting together a softwashing rig in conjunction with my pressure washing set-up. Make no mistake about it, if you are cleaning siding, windows, screens, and roofs with 45-50 psi that is a softwash.

I know that everyone knows not to use 3000psi to clean windows, shingles, etc this is just another way to do it. Here are a couple of companys that use similar methods.

I think sprayaway got our area going with a franchise here in the early 90's, I remember seeing them when I was first starting out. We have had a bunch come and go as they did here, but their methods stuck and developed into a catchy, safe way to clean structures that is what everyone asks for.
