Stick to your Guns.

Roundtable Host 2009
Yesterday I was driving home and got a call from the local VFW. Caller John, said he was driving right behind me and needed a quote on the hoods. So I went there today and There was a hood cleaner there removing the filters. The hood looked untouched. John the caller said they made him return because he did not do the fan or duct work. To me it looks like he only did the filters. ( which are falling apart ) . He had a troy-bilt pressure washer and a residential all purpose DE-greaser, using cold water. Needless to say I am their new guy and my price was higher, but I took into consideration their non profit status and gave the local VFW a break. They also want a price on roof cleaning and interior floor waxing. Another lowballer that worked himself right out of a job. Thanks buddy.

That's always good news John.
Its a good feeling to turn down jobs because price shoppers don't know or understand all that's involved. I personally find it as rude and disrespectful when people try to low ball me knowing that my price is competitive in the market and they still want to get over on me. I will not work for such people. As my business is growing I can do with out the nonsense. I just came from a networking event and Received a testimonial from a well established business. That is worth it weight in gold. when I first started i did the low priced jobs and grumbled all through it. I am glad I stopped in time as to not build a reputation as the cheap labor company. Im quality. and people still pay for quality. I hope all the newest guys realize and have faith in what I learned and not sell themselves short. STICK TO YOUR GUNS.

You always have to make sure that the job pays enough to be worth doing, otherwise you will be grumbling. As for the VFW, I don't cut them a break, because they are in business, too. They are competing with other bars and restaurants, so they should be paying the same rates. You could call them the low ballers of their industry.
