I have posted a whole two posts on the PWNA board, and the response I have gotten to one of them makes me think that there are idiots among us. No dis-respect to Ron and the other PWNA members I see on here, for this does not pertain to you guys and gals. But I asked a simple question about the PWNA certification for Kitchen exhausts, and I got the response that didn't have any bearing on my question. It seems that, the PWNA board is just for PWNA people which is fine, but I will not be visiting the board again. Instead I will be staying here where the help makes sense the majority of the time.
Speaking of the PWNA though, and maybe you can answer this Ron. Why haven't they in all these years, made relationships with the federal Health Departments, and Fire Marshal depts? And try to have standards sent down that actually get the orginization credibility. I mean if I as one person get my state health dept and fire marshal to listen to me, and together come up with common sense standards, then why is it a national org with 600 members can't do the same on a federal level?
Here is a suggestion. Have the Pres of the PWNA get on the phone and call the Pres of the NFPA. They could talk about this standard they have for certification. Then they together could set up a confrence call with the national fire marshal dept. They could talk about the problems in the industry and how it would be beneficial to restuarants and fire marshals, to actually require any company that is going to be cleaning resturant hood vents and exhaust systems, to first take this test and be certified to do the cleaning.
But no, the old pres of the PWNA rather would like to talk about going to vegas and getting people scores on their certifications that in reality, hold no weight except in the power washing industry where it does them no good. This would also get people like me to join this organization because after years of being around and not actually getting anything done, they could say "look here we have achieved this common sense thing". If I as one person can do these things in 2 months, then the PWNA can get it done. My god it's a series of phone calls and meetings. And if the Pres can afford to go to Vegas for a convention, then he can certainly afford to go meet with the NFPA and the National Fire Marshals office.
