The dreaded Cold Call...

I don't know if everyone is just happy the holidays are over or what. I made 14 cold calls to restaurants this afternoon trying to solicit business in both the exterior and back of house, not one salty GM or pissed off staff member. I hate making cold calls, tend to feel rushed by the people on the other end of the line and it usually ends in me tripping over my words, but today was different. All contact seemed to be well received, got valuable information about GM names (if not got them on the phone), property owners who handle exterior cleanings, email addresses, etc. Already got one call back to come bid an exterior cleaning too! Sometimes you just catch them at the right time, I think that is one of the biggest factors, TIMING. Today, I consciously waited till 3pm before calling anyone. What are your experiences with the best times to Cold Call and/or Unsolicited Drop-in?

There you go. You found the sweet spot. Cold calling isn't bad. Just mind over matter.
I always have mixed results with it but I always avoid doing them on Mondays and I always shoot for the first part of the day because that's just when I'm motivated the most. Seems to work for me.

Who told you to wait until 3pm?

Way to go Calvin! Just Like Chad I do cold calls in the A.M. when my mind is fresh and focused more on the task at hand. I'll do them Mon - Fri. depending on my job schedule. Sometimes I'll even do 1 or 2 during the lunch rush. Have scheduled several demo's during lunch rush but have also gotten butt chewed for it. LOL.

Timing is everything!
