this guy lasted one year

Two companies I saw in local ads here last year are nowhere to be seen this year. I assume they are gone. There is much more to having a successful business, even a part time one, than people realize.

Hey Ron, we see that alot down here in FLA. They go into buisness lowball thier A$$ off, then put thier equipment up for sale for half price within 6 months time.:D :D
That's for sure Nick!
The local supply houses must be cleaning up.
They sell the stuff, the guy fails, they buy it back, cheap!
And, this is NO smack on the good people here selling cleaning stuff either, it is just the way it is.
FEW people here in Florida make it in Pressure Washing, UNLESS they are Momma's Boyz.
You know what I mean Nick, the ones where the wife brings home the Bacon.

Another problem is Military retiree's since Tampa is a Military Base Town.

There are zillions of retired Fly Boyz from Macdill AFB getting early pensions out cutting our throats.

I DONT SEE HOW PEOPLE COULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS? i mean after you have paid for your equipment insurance and misc. it's all gravy. they must not be able to handle the work? piece by piece and reference by reference it only gets better. maybe they spent thousands on unneeded equipment and marketing? i dunno???

Their Bar Tab or drug bill to the dope man makes em split town in a hurry.
We see em come, we watch em go.
Customers ask me to match their price, here is what I say > "How about you sell me your 1/2 million dollar home for 85, 000.00 ?
They soon get the point.

Or, they live and they learn.

Problem with many people is that they make the amount of money they need and do not want to work anymore. So if they had a good week, then they take the rest of the month off. Delaying work until you need money, or not showing to a regular account because all your bills are paid will not work in the long term.
Another issue is many people want to do commercial work, but are not willing to work at night. They would rather do a crappy job in the evening or morning than to get up and go when there is plenty of time to get it done right.
Getting work is easy compared to making it all stay together for the long term.

its also hard work, i guess they thought money would fall out the sky. when i have down time, i wash the truck, check out all my equipment, change the o- rings in my hoses if needed, do 100% inspection on every thing i even pull the wheels and check the brakes. then jump in my car and go hand out flyers. And i dont get paid for that.

You got that right Mario. I've been full time in this since I started back in Feb of 06 and I have never worked harder in my life. Haven't had a vacation in two years. When the phone is ringing I'm doing quotes and out doing cleaning. When the phone isn't ringing I'm bustin my a## to get it going again and I ALWAYS have some type of advertisement going. I am hoping that next year I turn the corner and start getting enough income and repeat business that I can take a breather somewhere along the line. It is great to work for yourself though and that is what keeps me going.

So much to see and learn, grasshoppa... stay tuned.

Have you ever been eating dinner and half way thru you go for more gravy and it is all gone? Well, that is what many do, they underestimated their need for how much gravy they needed.

No more gravy, equlas no more work since they can not afford to buy gas and such to get their and complete it.

WOW great metaphor Alan! well only people i know who could not afford 15$-$25 in gas/chems to complete a $250-$400 job are junkies and the gravy is not for roast beef..

people want the money. but donot want to do the work on a regular week in week out . sleep late take day off quiet early. hard work / honesty always the best policy. long days and nights 24/7 365 will set you free.
