Three jobs under the belt and more to come!

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally getting paid! Completed the first job last week - moldy siding and a concrete wash. Homeowner was thrilled! She had a bad experience with someone a year ago who didn't know what they were doing and left streaks on her driveway. I cleared it right up!

I tried to post pictures of my second job, but I can't get the uploader to cooperate (I do consider myself somewhat tech savvy...anyway, I will try again another day.) It's a church in a local town that was ridden with mold. I had to rent a lift to make sure I got to the top. I think I could've reached with my stream from the ground, but I would have lost a lot of volume. That church job actually got me a third in the same town. When I was going over to bid it, a guy called and asked if I could take a look at the north side of his place and give him an estimate too.

So far, people have only wanted one side, but that changed today. I did my first whole house wash (fourth under the belt actually...sorry, I'm a little happy). I was doing door to door and when I told her what I did, she about leapt into the air with joy. She said she has been searching for over a year for someone who does what I do! She was originally going to have a painter do it and he quoted her around 2 weeks and $2000. Needless to say, she was happy with my bid and the completed job.

Just wanted to thank all the veterans out there that have contributed to this forum. It is truly a wealth of information, more than worth its weight in gold. Not sure if Michael Kreisle still visits here or not, but his videos on YouTube were of great help to me, especially when it came to understanding down streaming. If you're new to the business, I highly suggest watching them. I hope that I'll be able to contribute worthwhile information to this community like so many others. Thanks everyone!

It can

I have no doubt! I actually had a guy yesterday, and I think it was just his personality, try to tell me 4000 psi would't damage his siding. Maybe we should have tested his theory.

4,000 PSI will damage the hell out of siding if your not watching what your doing. On a fan tip your fine I think what your customer was saying is 4,000 PSI CAN damage the siding not that it 100% will every time. For example using a 0 tip 2 feet away from the siding will destroy that siding. We have done a TON of jobs where the home owner is the DIY type and he discolored half of his siding and wants me to come fix it. We only use our low pressure system so I cannot match what he did because he was hammering on the siding with his PW he got from Lowes. Just explain to the customer that you are trained and that you can damage siding if the proper steps are not taken or if that person was never trained.

I totally wasn't serious about testing his theory. I politely, but firmly stood my ground and that I was not going to raise the pressure. I'm sure his thought process was more pressure equals cleaner sighting. The guy had 15-year-old siding with probably five years worth of mold buildup and expected it to look like new. Once his wife got out there and saw that it looked nice, he was OK then.

Yes. I'm using 50/50 SH & water, with Elemonator. Strongest I've found my way is around 10%, but so far, all the siding I've done turned out great. The difference in his was night and day as well, he is just a little on the difficult side. The "test his theory" comment was my way of working through the frustration. I have a jrod that I use for down streaming and I love it.

Wait till they want to start helping you.

Oh boy...

The guy who I was talking about wanted me to use his ladder, hose, and some mold removal product. He almost seemed offended when I said I had my own stuff. He did admit to having no business being on a ladder two stories up and I am glad he wasn't hovering over me the entire time.

Everyone has been very happy with the results and it is oddly satisfying to see the mold "melt" away...

Just curious, you weren't on a ladder two stories were you?
