Tips a flying

Have any of you ever damaged anything from not having your tips all the way on? I was doing a job this weekend and I kept on changing tips but wasn't making sure the tips were on tight. (I guess you can say I was rushing). I came close to having the tip fly at a window. I'm sure it would have gone right through. Funny thing is, I was just thinking right before it happened how well the job was going.

Mark,
Most people will not admit this oversight, but we have all done it one time or another.
I did not check once and the tip and o-ring came out. I recovered the tip and tried it again. Water came out everywhere from the QC and scared the hell out of me. I did not know there was an o-ring in there and this was a borrowed machine.
Finally figured about the o-ring and tracked it down. All was fine after that, but had me going crazy for awhile.

To tell the truth, I've never done that......I always double check it when I change tips..............however, it has happened on several occasions when someone else was washing for me...........no damage, thankfully.

Mark W,
Have had that happen before. I now try and lubricate all my couplers at least once a week. Been using silicone spray oil because it is not suppose to attack the rubber o ring.
I think when the couplers are dry you get a false lock up. I always try to remember to spray down immediately after changing tips.
Would hate to have to pay for a windshield, plate glass window, or an eye!

I hit the side of a duct once with the wand, it pushed the QC back and shot my roto nozzle down a 20 foot duct, it took me 40 minutes to get it back.

lol... :)
We train the crews on our own property, and every time we train a new crew they pop a tip off and occasionally lose an o-ring. It's actually good in a way, since they learn right off the bat to make sure the tip is on right, and also what it looks like if the o-ring comes out.

its not too bad looseing a $5 tip. Try looking for a $150 x-jet in the bushes when the house is half done and has soap drying on the windows.
The QD hit a branch when i started to rinse[i disconnect the long hose to do the rinse.]
It now has a nice coat of red epoxy paint on it, im going to get it powder coated red. :p
