Unloader Q's

So I have pressure, no problems there, but when shutting down the engine the unloader looses the load and tries to gain pressure, but with obviously not enough power as the engine is shutting down, it makes a bad noise, goes thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk, for the 2 or 3 seconds. It happened twice today. I just ordered a new unloader, and took the old one apart, seemed ok, but what causes this problem? Are the seals in the unloader going bad? I checked all the fittings on the reel and gun, no leaks that I could find.

Is it a K7? Flow changes freak them out. As the engine and pump slows, the flow changes and causes what you describe. I've seen them do that from day one, and never hurt anything.

If it's not a K7, then you may have a problem. Which do you have?

Most of the time the problem with the K7 is that alot of times you will find that the adjustment screw has been totaly turned in, so you have full pressure. The K7 unloader dosent like that at all. You need to adjust it with a pressure gauge and make sure it is not bottomed out. That seems to fix the K7 problem most of the time. If it dosent, you know then you need to rebuild or replace it.
