I am not talking about a piece of equipment, but I am talking about a tool. I want to share a little story that happened to me today (I will try to keep it short). First off, let me say that I just started reading a book called "How to win friends and influence people" last week. This is what happened...
I noticed my neighbor across the street power washing their driveway this afternoon. I went across the street to introduce myself (I have only lived here for 3 months and don't know everyone yet) and offer any suggestions I could or lend a hand or even let them use some of my detergent. Keep in mind, I was not trying in any way to make any money, just trying to lend a hand. I got talking with Jim, the homeowner. He told me where he got his machine, I then thought to use what I have learned so far in my readings. I didn't really talk much, just asked a few simple questions about, his 1970 chevelle (he took half an hour telling me about that). Then he told me about his outdoor hot tub, then we talked about me letting him use my deck wash chemicals so he could also re-finish his deck outback of his house. After he talked about anything he wanted to he asked how much I would charge to do his deck. I did give him a good price, he then said to do it when ever I want and leave a bill in his mailbox and he will drop off a check when it is done. He also told me that he did not want his hot tub any more. It needs a new line or something, and if I wanted it I could have it. WOW, what a great day, a deck job and a hot tub. This I attribute to what I have learned in the book. I am not a salesman for the book, just sharing what I truly believed to work. Buy it, read it. You will make more money.
