Wal-mart Eviro I

Will walmart make the changes and actully go to using only eviro contractors for cleaning.

How will this effect the future of the industry?

Will someone get caught dumping?

How about not even using there equipment?

What does this mean for the future?

1.If all of their properties were built to CWA compliance why would there be a need to make a shift in the way it's been done. Why would anyone want to haul wate water from a work site?

2.It's appears to be another attempt at someone trying to scare a major retailer into over doing something. It will hurt the industry at some point.

3.The guy that the store were subbed to will dump illegally because he is doing them for pennies on the dollar and will not be able to afford the fees at a dumping station.

4.That will happen after the first cleaning for a vast majority who do end up with this contract.Again, the pennies on the dollar thing.

5.It means that we as contractors have to set up and educate property owners better on how the CWA is designed to work.

This whole thing wreaks with the smell of an agenda.Who's agenda?I think I know, everyone else can figure it out,I'm sure.If they are going to push the reclaim issues with these companies they should have a better grasp on what is and is not allowed.Instead of pushing 1/2 truths.

My guess with this whole Wal-Mart thing is that since there the biggest company in the world there are alot of eyes watching them all across the gamut. I remember reading how they got hammered over having illegals working for them(Thru contractors).

Now there getting hammered for water run-off. This is why I believe that they are very concerned about how there stores are Power washed. According to the certification tests that I have taken recently from two different sources both the store and the Powerwasher can be nailed equally for violating the EPA rules.. And there rules are pretty stringent as Wal_Mart is finding out.

Maybe some of the Wal-Marts where not built correctly with there sewer and storm water drains. I really don't know. Its going to be interesting how this whole thing plays out.

For me personally this is not the reason why I bought the swabby set-up. My goal there is to clean large parking garages and flatwork locations. The Wal-Mart RFP where they want you to cover at least your own state without subbing the work is once again probably asking to much.

Bids are due on Friday! Just a reminder :)

You guys can have it. After reading all the bull thats involved, i dont want any part of it..besides it is still going to be lowballed to death..

Walmart in Mississippi is real cheap when it comes to spending .. They do everything themselves.. Vent Hood Cleanings are done in Jackson by a trained guy that works with the maint. team for walmart .. I went through trying to clean those little restaurants before.. Also the fire equipment inspections in Jackson and surrounding area are being handled by ( Simplex Grinhell ....LOL Which is Tyco.. ) This little venture with tyco, Grinnel , and such really put a damper on the little fire equipment guys.. Then Wal-Mart in Mississippi as far as I know pays the vac truck to vac the parking lots and uses employees to clean there concrete... enviro cleaning in Mississippi is unheard of. More paint, oil, grease and such go into our storm drains , more so than rain.. I have learned to clean it, dump it , and don't worry about it.
What I think will happen with walmart is they will have thier own people certified and trained and have them cleaning stores for minimum wage... It's the wal-mart way... (Minimum Wage = Walmart )

I bid on it...Hey you never know. If I get it I plan on hiring at least 12 more guys. You just never know and you can always say NO If I don't get it life goes on. I kind of like when things like this come across my desk..OK Couch:) We'll keep all posted if I do get it.

After seeing some of the people that instigated and promoted the idea of expensive machines and recovery systems out there, seeing them post on the internet in different places and how they are not super rich like they thought they would be, they are not the multi-millionaires they thought they would be when the smoke cleared, they just made it a lot harder for the real working class out there to make a living. Another theory proven wrong but at the expense of a lot of hard working contractors trying to earn a living.

It should not happen again!
