water tank flow

I need to know how to get the right flow out of my water tank. I have an elbow coming out of the tank that goes to a hose with a filter on it. My p/w is right behind the tank. I bought the set-up from a guy that had never used it. I needed to get more water pressure, than I was getting from the customers house,so I tried the tank for the first time. I was getting very little water from the tank. I was wondering if the elbow was not letting enough water get down the hose or if the filter had something to to with it. Can someone help? The tank is 250 gal.

Thanks.

need to know

What is the size of the hole in the tank?
What size line is supplying the water?
What type of washer do you you have [belt or direct drive]
What is the GPM of the wash unit?
How high off the floor is the pump?
you dont need pressure, your wash unit will DRAW water. The word "pressure" is wrong in your post. I think you ment VOLUME.
Did you start by taking the filter apart to see if it was clogged?
Less restrictions would be better, can you change the plumbing to get rid of the elbow?
The supply line should be at least 3/4 inc and reduce as close to the pump head as possiable.
Another thing to check is make sure the cap on the tank is vented other wise you create a vaccuume and wont get a draw.
think about installing a check valve in that line also.
my guess is either you have loose clamps and are getting an air leak or the filter is clogged.
Got a pic?

one other thing did you take a 5 gal bucket at the power washer end and time the flow?[check the GPM]
Make sure its a low water volume problem and not a prob. with your wash unit or another in-line filter you may/should have.

Thanks, Ron.

I checked the filter and it was clogged. It had a brown film all over it. I will try to change the set up so I dont have to use a elbow. The tank is 225 gal and my washer is 5 gpm. I have not tried it out but will let you know when I do. Thanks!!

When I install a tank I use 1 inch Sched 80 grey PVC pipe and fittings all the way to the pump. A y filter from homedepot works great for this application. omit any other filters besides that one. The pump will draw as much water as it needs.
