where does the bulk of your buisnesses money come from ?

I'm really indepently wealthy, I have almost as much money as Bill Gates, but I dont want to brag:p . I just pressure wash for fun. I was going to become a Hollywood Movie producer  or a double knot 007 spy. But I figured it was just easier squirting water all day

LOL

30% Fleets
30% Kitchen Exhaust Systems
40% Industrial/Commercial

These percentages are for the past 12 years.

How about you Russ?

Dave Olson

No commercial for me yet but I am working hard to change that. It would be nice to have some regular accounts set up with some guaranteed cash flow each month.

About 50% for me. The other 50 is residential.

We do about 20-25% commercial work. Residential is where we spend most of our time. I like the personal contact and fast payments from residential.

i am now up to 90% commercial thanks to following the advice of Ron and learning where and what to target, with a little patients it has really paid off ,you laugh at me for all the post sometimes but it would really shock you to find how much the exposure has kicked up my commercial buisness (way way up) lets put itin perspective just to give you an idea ,when i started on this board i had 1 location towork out of now i have 4 and very busy in all of the areas.not bragging just giving some insite to something that helped me

Cool, congrats to your success

You do have some strange post, I just figured it must be sleep deprivation LOL:eek:

Congrats
Jeff

10% ... Commercial. Work less, but better profit margins. I'll seek some more commercial this year. However, I will SELL and not take orders for a set price established by prior contractors doing shoddy work. That's what I keep seeing when chasing commercial work. They say that they are dissappointed in the last guys tardiness or being late and unreliable, but then want my price to be equal or lower.

I do must governemtn work, and because of that I put it in commercial. I would have to do a total analysis, but I am thinking that I do about 75% governement, and the rest is commercial. I may do 1 or 2% a year in residential stuff. And that is a very high estimate.

i like the repeat buisness that comes with the commercial ,i agree you dont make as much sometimes per job but you get them as often as every two weeks w/o knocking on doors and its guaranteed ... even when its cold like now ,we have stuff giong on all over the state when everyone else is watching TV scratching their heads

10 to 20 percent commercial, and LIKE it that way.
Hey, we could take big roof cleaning jobs for nothing, post them on the Internet, and make everyone go "WOW".
But what REALLY counts is how much money goes in Hip National Bank ?

I just turned down a HUGE apartment complex for 20,000.00
WHY ?
Because it would take a month working all day to do, and with 6 guys making 500 a week that's 12 grand in labor alone.
Then, you figure 3 grand for chemical, and 2 grand for a lift, you just worked all month for 3 GRAND.

We do from 3 to 5 roofs a day average residential, and get paid!

Plus, when you develop thousands of retail customers, you are almost competition proof.

When you depend on a few big commercial accounts, and someone cuts your throat, you are screwed!

Gimme Residential, anyday!

10% Commercial. I submit a lot of bids for commercial work all the time, but I rarely get the job. They usually say, we'll call you when we're ready. Or they price shop until they find the lowest bid. I consistantly lose jobs to low-ballers. I heard some of them don't even measure or charge by the square foot, they just guess. Sometimes their bids are less than a nickel per sq.ft.

75% Condo complexes, then a mix of other commercial & less and less residential. I dont target or advertise residential anymore

The Condo KING
Hey brother Jeff!
I guess one must do what they must to survive where they are.
Here in Tampa, we target residential.
The commercial jobs here are a Whores Wedding, LOL
Few pay shizit, and then good luck even getting that.

When commercail does come along, we bid, and we bid pretty high.
BUT, all that may change ??

We are going to P/U the tanks tomorrow, or at least see about them, for the biggest roof cleaning machine the world has ever known!

It is a Big Ford F 600 long Flatbed.

I am THINKING 4 525 Gallon tanks, 4 stainless titan Hose Reels w over 300 feet of 5/8 hose, and 4 apple monster pumps!

It will not have the Apple Vari Flow system, since it is a job specific Battleship!

I figure to fill the tanks all up 1/2 way, drive to the job, and fill with water in place.

I JUST sent in a 35 grand bid o a huge complex, and it is looking good!

IF I get this job, the birth of the roof cleaning "Deathstar" shall be upon us, LOL

about 90% commecial fleets 5% commercial buildings 5% residential. In most cases the commercial customer is easier to deal with and they have realistic expectations of what will occur.

I used to be pretty much all residential. The residential market here has gone down the ****ter, I dont care what anyone says. Every single entity I know took a hit the last 8mnths +.

I got real lucky and an old golf contact I made back when I was a pro hit me on the hip a few months back. He is a mng group. I am now doing all the apts in Tampa and Orlando for him that he has. We just fineshed a large flatwork gig for him also in clearwater. After the superbowl I have a 5 story parking garage(6 if you count the elevator) I am cleaning for him also. Adding another Apple powered super pump to the trailor for this one!

I am really a rezzy cleaner...love the fast money, the challange and of course bieng result oriented person I love the results. My strengths are sales and selling roofs and housewashes are what I am great at. But, with that said all the 5 year ARM loans and the insurance criminals spiking the death out of insurance folks just dont have the coin. I am doing rezzies..just not like the years past. We were 50k below last years #'s. I dunno if you count hoa work as rezzie but a nice chunck of that was a rez gig we did and we did such a great job they didnt need a damn thing cleaned this year:(
Plus Tampa was in a 72% real estate boom last three years. Now folks are getting owned in real estate.

Having the best jan/feb I have had to date, thanks to my commercial buddy :). At this point I am over 50% commercial and it scares the sheeit outta me.
But I love the steady money that I can count on. Im sure the rezies will shoot back up soon..Did two nice ones today. Big two story house for 400 and a small tile roof for 375. Cant waite for those long summer days coming home stinking to hi heaven of bleach with over a G in me pocket.
